Description Job SummaryThe General Superintendent IV is primarily responsible for assisting the Construction Manager for supervising direct craft activities, subordinate superintendents, subcontractors, and others as assigned, while building a positive safety culture on site. Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors' performance follow specifications and within schedule. Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.
This position will be located on a project in North Carolina .Essential FunctionsActively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company's "Code of Business Conduct and Ethics."Provides direct involvement with assisting construction management in pre-job planning and scheduling.Actively promotes and supports Company's safety programs while maintaining a positive safety culture.Assists in developing and reviewing construction procedures to meet Company needs.Supervises discipline superintendents, general foremen, foremen, and craft workers for direct hire construction activities including civil, piping, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation.Liaises between field engineering and crafts to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications.Trains employees on procedures to enhance efficiencies.Assists superintendents and foremen to ensure excellent construction practices are maintained.Conducts daily coordination meetings as required with subordinates, craft, and subcontractors to ensure priorities are clearly understood and adherence to the overall project plan.Performs general administrative, record keeping, and other duties as assigned.Assists in planning work schedules, determining manpower levels, material quantities, and construction equipment requirements.Monitors work performance and productivity of craft to ensure project rules, procedures, and safety requirements are maintained.Advises project and construction management of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties; assists in resolving such problems, as required.Ensures all company, department and technical policies, procedures and standards, are followed. Interprets policies, as required.Performs additional responsibilities, as directed.
Qualifications
12+ years' job-related experience in EPC Industrial Construction with direct hire craft, including 5+ years' prior General Superintendent experience in EPC Industrial Construction with direct hire craft.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance.Ability to read and understand construction drawings.Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.Ability to work with other Matrix personnel departments, such as Operations, Project Management, Engineering, and HSE to assist in resolving issues.Work includes field inspections and audits and the physical ability to conduct these field duties which require the following activities:Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project via turnstile access.Extensive walking in and around a construction site.Tasks at heights including climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, and working on uneven surfaces.Working in small or confined spaces.Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. fall protection harness, hard hat, etc.).Ability to be fit tested for and use a respirator.Must be able to perform work tasks in hot and cold temperatures.
