The College seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in Adapted Technology. The ideal candidate will share the College’s commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.The anticipated start date for this position is Spring 2025.Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement the curriculum in assistive computer technology as it relates to college-level students in a diverse educational environment and monitor effectiveness through Student Learning Outcomes.Provide classroom and individual instruction to students in the use of Assistive Technology software and strategies for its application to their college course(s).Develop accessible course materials for assistive computer technology classes.Assess the technology needs of students and determine the appropriate assistive technology to support/meet their identified accommodations.Maintain accurate records for students receiving services and maintain proper documentation and confidentiality of student files using an online database.Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Disability Resource Center (DRC) program’s student learning outcomes.Train staff who provide classroom support in Assistive Technology classes.Coordinate the installation and maintenance of assistive computer technology in the DRC’s Assistive Technology Lab/Classroom.Keep current with advancements in assistive technology and its application to students with disabilities.Provide technical assistance to campus instructional and technology committees on access requirements for individuals with disabilities.Collaborate with the District’s Accessibility Specialist about the accessibility of online content for students with disabilities.Engage in outreach and promotion of DRC services and available technologies.Serve as a member of division and college committees.Perform other duties as required by contract, collective bargaining agreement, and general institutional needs in a timely manner.Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree or above, or equivalent foreign degree, in the category of disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology, or rehabilitation counseling AND 15-semester units of upper division or graduate study in adapted computer technology OR the equivalent.Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.Faculty Benefits
