The College seeks a full-time, temporary faculty member in the Library. The ideal candidate will share the College’s commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide focused support for the delivery of library instruction, services, and resources to diverse populations at Cañada College.Duties and Responsibilities
Provide focused support for the delivery of library instruction, services, programs, and resources to Cañada College’s diverse student populationDevelop, revise, teach, and assess library research and information literacy workshopsProvide personalized research instruction and reference that focuses on critical thinkingCollaborate with discipline experts to ensure that library resources support the curricular requirementsParticipate in curriculum development, learning outcomes development, and assessmentsEstablish strategic partnerships with other departments and programsIdentify and implement new methods for increasing awareness of library servicesMaintain scheduled office and campus hours, and participate in department/division meetings and committeesMinimum Qualifications
Possession of a Master’s degree or above in library science, library and information science, OR the equivalentDemonstrated cultural competence and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college studentsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Passion and enthusiasm for the role of libraries in the community collegeStrong oral and written communication skillsExperience developing, teaching, and assessing information literacy instructionExperience delivering reference and other instructional servicesPreferred Qualifications
American Library Association (ALA) accredited Master’s degree in Library Science or Library Information ScienceExperience with reference, instruction, and collection development community college-level programsFaculty Benefits
