We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer, for our Mil/Aerospace Division, North Reading, MA. This individual will have full responsibility for the cables, ITA's, and custom test fixtures on equipment we're building to help our Military and Aerospace customers for testing their technology.

For each of these Military/Aerospace customers, we are developing highly customized variants of our successful Spectrum-9100 testers as well as new platforms. Customers that you will develop custom solutions for include US Navy, Raytheon, BAE, Northrup-Grumman, Boeing and many others.

This person will create innovative, but also sound technical solutions to complex engineering problems. They will also identify essential requirements and key technical risks. This person will work closely with Product Marketing, Project Managers and Systems Engineering to understand customer needs, and with product development teams to implement design solutions for New Product Introduction.

Opportunity Overview•Use your hands on experience of 5+ years and be a key contributor in a mechanical design group responsible for the design, documentation and release of cables, ITA's, and custom test fixtures.•Be responsible for the Mechanical design, analysis, assembly documentation and validation of components/systems•Support new products as well as maintaining legacy products.•Candidate should be a self-starter and able to manage project priorities that can change rapidly.•Work under consultive direction towards predetermined mid and long-term goals•Effectively interact with customers to solve problems and build collaborative relationships•Consistently lead and collaborate with development teams in key areas such as providing communication clarity, technical guidance, trade-off analysis, project scheduling, and change management•Effectively collaborate with supply base to arrive at economically viable solutions

All About You•SOLIDWORKS 2018 or higher (computer aided design) and PDM (product data management).•Detailed understanding of the design of metal fabrication, machining and various fastening methods (hardware, adhesives, rivets etc.)•Ability to generate Mechanical design and documentation of components and assemblies including generating complete detailed drawings of piece parts and assemblies from concept to release.•Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs Visio, Word and Excel.•Must be fluent in IPC/WHMA-A-620: Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies

Must possess the following:•Initiative, motivation, and drive to bring highly integrated and complex products to market•Disciplined and methodical engineering rigor and careful attention to detail•Leadership and communication skills for effective influence with customers, internal teammates, and suppliers.•Proficiency in fundamentals of machine design: thermal analysis, tolerances, precision alignment and mechanical properties of materials.•Competency in material selection, manufacturing processes, and mechanical fabrication methods•Must be comfortable working with internal machine shops or outside vendors doing machining including knowledge of the CNC machining process.•Experience designing cables, ITA's, and custom test fixtures for Automated Test Equipment using Virginia Panel Corporation contacts, modules, and receivers.•Willing to travel (roughly 10%, inside US) to support fabrication, design and Teradyne customer meetings etc as necessary.

Minimum B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field with a minimum 5 years of experience in electro-mechanical design of cables, ITA's, and custom test fixtures.
