Mission/ Position Description Summary
The mission of a Business Development Manager for HVJ, a leading specialty engineering firm in Texas, is to identify and pursue new business opportunities to help a company grow. The Business Development Manager will support the business development and marketing staff as directed to assure client, employee and business associate satisfaction. Main areas of responsibilities include:
Identifying and contacting potential clients through networking and marketing methodsDeveloping new contractual areas and marketsPlanning and directing marketing pursuits.Collaborating with marketing teams and other teams to meet targets.Creating requests for qualifications and presentations for potential clientsManaging contractsAddressing client complaints or concerns

Maintain a consistent client and prospective client databaseExceptional written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills.Detail oriented with focus on accuracy and consistency.Ability to work under pressure.Ability plan and organize requests for qualification presentations, meetings, marketing strategies, and more.Familiarity with social media, industry publications, and competitors of the company.Ability to maintain confidentiality, build trust/rapport with other stakeholdersAbility to work successfully in a team setting.Strong and intuitive experience in Deltek Vision database software a plusStrong written and communication abilityExcellent grammar and editing skills.Key Criteria/Requirements
Minimum associate degree-Undergraduate Degree preferred in Journalism, Marketing, Public Administration with a minimum of five years' experience in a Business Development/Marketing or Communications related field. Engineering background/degree a plus.Experience in Civil Engineering related field with professional engineering License is a plus.The Business Development Manager will be a self-starter and will research, identify, design, coordinate, and execute a business development and marketing plan for the north region.The Business Development Manager must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be proactive with a high energy level, and have poise and professionalism when interacting with internal and external contacts.Must be able to articulate value proposition and conduct presentations to professionals in a compelling, persuasive, and executive level manner.The candidate will have the ability to prioritize workload, work independently, and complete tasks under time pressure when necessary.The candidate must have the flexibility and creativity to respond productively to individualized needs of consultants and researchers, work well with staff and react to difficult situations appropriately.Immaculate attention to detail and thoroughness required, as are strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
