As part of the US Business Development (BD) team, this role supports day-to-day needs of team members in the Restructuring and Appellate practice groups in the execution of strategic go-to-market initiatives that generate new client relationships, enhance brand profile and drive revenue opportunities. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual who shows ambition, determination and the desire to further develop a career in business development. We are looking for a candidate who has experience in quickly building rapport with key stakeholders, developing subject-matter knowledge, and working closely with peers and senior marketing staff to provide strategic and tactical support of business development initiatives. This position reports to a Senior Manager for Disputes and will be supported by a shared BD coordinator or assistant. The individual can be based in our Austin, Dallas, Houston, New York, or San Antonio offices. Some overtime and work outside of regular business hours may be required. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Work with practice leadership to manage the planning and production of client-targeted initiatives to raise and maintain awareness of our Restructuring and Appellate practices and sector strengths in line with strategic growth objectives. Identify and propose pursuit opportunities based on plan priorities, market awareness, and commercial potential; implement initiatives for generating new client relationships, enhancing brand profile and driving revenue opportunities. Analyze and develop engagement opportunities with target clients specific to assigned practice. Coordinate with partners on the development and publicizing of outcomes and thought leadership. Manage the production process for developing team newsletters, blogs, client alerts, and other external communications in a timely manner. Mentor and coach team members on best practices based on core competencies. Ensure that all marketing communications channels are utilized to convey consistent messages about the Restructuring and Appellate teams. Track and analyze client engagement activities for Restructuring and Appellate teams. Work with the in-house events team to plan, implement and report on industry conference sponsorships, client presentations, and seminars. Draft and coordinate submissions in legal directories and practice/industry surveys. Manage the production of internal presentations for relevant training/development programs. Develop internal communications for promoting monthly engagement activities of Restructuring and Appellate teams. Update intranet content in the US and, where relevant, at a global level to raise awareness of BD initiatives. Monitor and approve check requests, invoices, and other arrangements required for support of marketing activities. Coordinate resources and materials for internal team meetings as needed. Assist team members in the lateral integration/onboarding process as needed. Qualifications and job-related skills 8 years of experience, preferably in professional services; law firm experience a plus. Demonstrated experience with business development strategy in a global professional services organization. Experience of delivering cross-border business development and marketing campaigns. Demonstrated success in leading marketing and business development initiatives. Proactive, innovative business development professional with excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills. High degree of intellectual curiosity; ability to learn and integrate the use of firm resources and technologies. Strong professional presence comfortable interacting and collaborating with lawyers and other professionals. Motivated by a fast-paced, hybrid/remote environment. A problem solver who is detail-oriented and highly organized. Clear and concise written/oral communication skills.
