Job DescriptionWe are a Top Notch MEP Consulting Firm that is targeting a Mechanical Engineer for our Washington DC office.Our work covers a vast array of building industry sectors, including partnering with premier government/ federal buildings, historic, higher education, healthcare, commercial and cultural institutions. We work with leading architects, developers, and both private and public sector owners to ensure complete client satisfaction by bringing our seasoned judgment and ingenuity, along with adherence to schedule and budget, to every project. We pride ourselves on our quality assurance/quality control procedures, and our hands-on Principal involvement is the hallmark of our firm. This firms expertise extends beyond traditional MEP engineering to include fire and life safety, information and communication technology, commissioning, and energy services. Our headquarters is located in Washington DC, with six additional office locations throughout North AmericaMechanical Engineer- This role will sit in our Washington DC office.The main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:Design mechanical systems including heating, cooling, heat rejection, air and water distribution, ventilation, air conditioning, building automation and controls.Perform system design calculations, load calculations and some Energy modeling experience.Select equipment for use in building systems.Incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings.Prepare contract drawings detailing the designed systems.Report writing and specification preparation.Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects.Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them.Manage a small project, work area or technical skill set, monitor quality of work, and is involved in client liaison.Assist in the procurement of work; manage multi-disciplinary project teams including client relations and team motivationQualifications and Education RequirementsA baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institutionMinimum of 4 years professional experience in commercial/institutional building projects.4+ years’ experience designing HVAC systems for buildingsStrong AutoCAD and Revit capabilitiesEIT or PE license highly desirableStrong fundamental understanding of national building codesKnowledge of Microsoft Office suiteStrong Analytical and quantitative skills, and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinkingStrong initiative—the willingness and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environmentAbility to multi-task with multiple projects in order to meet strict deadlines.Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideasin an accessible way, both verbally and in writing
