ON A TYPICAL DAY YOU'LL
Perform routine work at our data centers as well as occasional work at a variety of field locations (office buildings) and/or Pilot's warehouseContinually audit and document all data pertaining to Pilot's data center infrastructure and ensure that information is kept up-to-dateTroubleshoot hardware and connectivity problems in collaboration with our Network Engineering and Support teamsRespond to requests to connect, disconnect, and/or troubleshoot circuits from internal teams such as Network Engineering, Network Support, and ConstructionLiaise with data center operators for routine requests (cross connects, access requests, etc)Iterate on and maintain standards and best practices for Pilot data center infrastructureMonitor facilities systems, respond to abnormal conditions/alarms, and resolve issues in conjunction with facility staff or contractors (ie. environmentals / HVAC)Maintain inventory for cabling, optics, and network equipment for all points of presence and Pilot's warehouseOrder, rack, and cable new cabling and equipment when requiredSupport the Network, Construction, and Project Engineering teams with maintenance projectsProvide technical answers and resources to other Pilot departments in relation to current DC capacity, customer needs, and supported servicesWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with colleagues, vendors, and customersStrong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issuesAbility to employ a customer-centric approach, including awareness of customer impact and potential risk mitigationCan-do positive attitude and interest in quick deployment and resolutionExperienced in the documentation of data center cabling and network infrastructure (DCIM tools); preferred experience with Nautobot or NetboxDemonstrated successful cross-functional collaboration skills including timely execution of tasksExperience in data center operations and understanding of both fiber and copper cable methodology, best practices, internet routing, and network interconnectionExperience with crimping and labeling and the usage of patch panels, fiber optic connectors, optic types, and form factorsBasic knowledge of optical module types, physical forms (LC/SC/MTP/QSFP/SFP) as well as fiber cabling types and their parametersBasic knowledge of optical technologies like PON, WDMExperience with AC and DC power systems used in Data Center environmentsAbility to execute required tasks independently, on time, and with minimal supervisionParticipate in after-hours on-call rotation as well as available for periodic off-hours work (late night/early morning) such as maintenance or emergency needs (outages)Comfort with daily travel via mass transit to sites in the NYC metro area (including New Jersey and Long Island) and ability to travel up to 2 days per month outside of the NYC metro (Philadelphia / Washington D.C. metro areas)Valid, clean driver's license (MVR check required)Within 1 hour proximity to ManhattanCapable of lifting up to 50lbsPILOT'S PAY & PERKS
