Job Summary:

The Department of Psychology is seeking adjunct candidates who could teach one or more of a variety of courses, including introductory psychology or advanced clinical topics.

PLNU adjunct pay: Using a 3-unit full semester appointment as a pay guide, the adjunct pay range is $4,860 - $6,480. The units will determine the actual salary.

Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIESAn adjunct faculty member would be responsible for teaching one or more courses in:

introductory psychology

advanced clinical topics

Adjunct faculty are also expected to be available to meet with students as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONSAn adjunct faculty member should have the following qualifications:

MA in the field for lower division courses

PhD in the field for upper division courses

Licensed if conducting student group supervision

3 years teaching or professional experience preferred

Philosophical: Thorough commitment to the concept of Christian liberal arts education and a desire to work in a Christian university. Supportive of the religious and educational goals of the university and its sponsoring denomination.

Personal: Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, faculty agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s

Community Life Covenant .

The position is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONSThe number of adjunct instructors hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department. Please realize that there may not presently be an adjunct position available. When an opening becomes available for which you would be a good match, the department chair will be in contact with you for further dialogue, interviews, etc.

Approved applicants will remain in the adjunct pool for the upcoming school year only. To be reconsidered for the following school year, applicants will need to reapply. If hired, official transcripts will be required from all undergraduate and graduate universities attended before a contract is issued.
