The University of California, San Diego, Department of Surgery, Division of Breast Surgery, Moore's UCSD Cancer Center and Comprehensive Breast Health Center are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and seek to recruit fellowship-trained breast surgeons with a focus on clinical care and a commitment to breast cancer research.The selected candidates will help build a high-quality research portfolio with a focus on data science as it relates to database management as part of the Division Chief's comprehensive Breast Program. The selected candidates will dedicate 25% of their efforts to strategic research initiatives as directed by the Division Chief, with the remaining 75% devoted to clinical care. The selected candidates will also be responsible for teaching and university service.The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.A link to the full descriptions of each series is provided for your review:HS Clinical ProfessorClinical X ProfessorIn-Residence ProfessorAdjunct ProfessorAs a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Basic qualifications
(required at time of application)Candidates must have a MD, DO, or equivalent.Candidates must be Board certified or Board eligible in General Surgery.Candidates must also have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.Candidates must have at least two years of experience in data science related to cancer registries and national databases.Candidates must have peer-reviewed at least two articles related to the field of breast diseases.Additional qualifications
(required at time of start)Candidates must have completed a fellowship in breast surgery or surgical oncology by the start of the appointment.Preferred qualificationsCandidates with at least 2 years of programming experience are preferred.Application Requirements
