Join our team as we continue to create excitement for learning in a fun and loving environment!Position Available: Middle School Substitute Teacher - Computer ScienceStart date: January 13, 2025Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 3 or 4 pmCompensation: $32.00 - $33.50/hr depending on individual experience, education and position requirements.As a Computer Science Substitute Teacher, you will collaborate with teachers to create lesson plans and integrate the core curriculum into computer science projects. You will guide our 5th and 6th grade students through our exciting computer science curriculum daily, as well as lead an advanced elective course for 7th/8th graders. You will have the opportunity to monitor, document, and assess student progress, maintain close communication with the principal and parents regarding student issues, and conduct parent-teacher conferencing. Along with ensuring the highest quality of care, you will represent Action Day as the campus point person/ambassador of technology integration and computer science and lead an after-school Robotics Club on Wednesdays.As an Educational Technology Role Model, you will contribute to the development and implementation of a shared vision for the comprehensive integration of technology to promote excellence and support transformational change throughout the instructional environment of the school. You will assist teachers and stakeholders in effectively using technology for assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, and providing authentic, engaging learning experiences for students. You will coach the use of technology in the classroom aligned with the ISTE standards, to address the needs of modern learners while modeling support and promoting digital citizenship and e-safety. This role also includes oversight of educational technology resources and collaboration with the IT department and the campus principal.Our ideal candidate will come to us with:3-5 years of teaching experienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related fieldExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to build strong relationships and offer exceptional customer serviceAlignment with our core values, especially positive discipline and restorative practices, as well as a sense of funUnderstanding of technology operations and concepts - knowledge of key learning theories and practices in relation to technology integration is a plus!A demonstrated hard-working, flexible attitude and ability to manage a complex workload, prioritize tasks, and use good judgment in providing services based on goalsA mindset of continuous professional learning and improvementTechnical Skills/Experience:Experience in computer science, coding, graphic design, etc.Understanding of Digital Literacy and wellbeingKnowledge of CSTA, ISTE, and other academic technology standardsAbility to troubleshoot minor technology and connectivity issuesProficient in Microsoft and Google Productivity toolsExperience with programming and using and teaching with educational softwareExperience with a variety of instructional technology in the classroom such as computers, projectors, interactive whiteboards, and printersRobotics experience is a plus!Benefits for full-time employees working 30+ hrs/wk include:Small class sizes & technology-enabled classroomsFamily-oriented communityVacation, sick, and holiday pay -
