Above all, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.HDR is seeking self-start candidates for a Drinking Water Project Engineer to work as a member of our Water Business Group in Colorado. This position will be responsible for assisting in the growth and development of the Drinking Water Market Sector in Colorado; which includes projects such as water treatment facilities, pipelines and pump stations, and facility and master planning. Primary responsibilities include advancing business development strategies, development and pursuit of new clients and new projects, leading the technical aspects of projects including both studies and designs, and mentoring entry level engineers and staff development.This position also includes scheduling and coordinating work including multi-disciplinary teams, compilation of design and construction contract documents, design standards and practices, the ability to interact with multiple business groups (e.g. transportation, water/wastewater, permitting, and power and energy groups) across both local and regional HDR offices, facilitation of day-to-day business class or group activities in support of the Section Manager, strong writing and oral skills, and a track record of completing work on time and within budget. Previous experience with leading the technical aspects of projects is required.Primary ResponsibilitiesThe primary duty of the Drinking Water Project Engineer is to work with an engineering team to create detailed designs, plans, specifications and estimates for pipelines, pump stations, treatment plants, and conveyance systems.More specific responsibilities include:Design responsibilities include preparing construction documents for water systems, calculations, writing specifications, analysis and study-level reports for water treatment, distribution, and collection systems, determining appropriate design methods, and equipment sizing and selection.Project coordination.Equipment sizing and selection and working directly with the owner.Serving as owner's representative, coordination of inspection/observation activities, review and response to shop drawings, submittals, requests for clarification and other construction related correspondence, coordination of startup, commissioning and acceptance activities.Helps to coordinate the work of engineers and the balance of the multi-discipline project team throughout the entire project development.Conducts work sessions for design development and contract document in conjunction with other staff.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil EngineeringA minimum of 5 years of experience designing and creating plans and specifications for water and wastewater projectsPESelf-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a taskAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a mustPreferred Qualifications:Master's DegreeExperience with bench scale and pilot scale testing.Benefits and Compensation:We provide a comprehensive benefits package that promotes employee ownership, employee health, performance, and success; which includes medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, an employee assistance program, paid time off and parental leave, paid holidays, 401(k) retirement savings plan with employer match, employee referral bonuses and tuition reimbursement.
