We actively support this by providing all of our staff employees with at least 80 hours (10 days) of paid time per year to engage in professional development activities.Departmental OverviewThe Kaufer lab is part of the Integrative biology department and the Neuroscience institute and is studying how the brain deals with perturbations like stress, Traumatic brain injury and aging, and what are the mechanisms underlying trajectories of resilience vs. vulnerability. To address this, we are taking a multi-systems approach incorporating molecular, biochemical, electrophysiological, and behavioral analyses in rat and mouse models.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain, analyze and optimize databases for storing and managing large datasets related to neuroscience and AI research.Design and implement data pipelines to collect, clean, and process raw data from various sources, including experimental and observational studies. Integrate data across different platforms without compromising its integrity or security.Perform statistical analysis and machine learning modeling to identify patterns, trends, and correlations in research data.Collaborate with neuroscientists, biologists, and other researchers to develop and refine data-driven hypotheses and experimental designs.Create data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Support the integration of data across multiple platforms, ensuring data consistency, security, and integrity.Stay updated on the latest tools and techniques in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence relevant to the lab's research focus.Provide training and support to lab members on data management and analysis tools.Required QualificationsProficiency in statistical analysis and machine learning tools.Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, R, SQL).Experience with database building, management, and analysis.Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib).Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Computer Science or a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.Salary & BenefitsThis is a full-time career position. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
