Overview:This is a fast-paced role ideal for a self-motivated individual who wants to work hands-on with the latest in Semiconductor equipment technology. The ideal candidate will have experience or knowledge of Semiconductor, Thin Film, Micro-electromechanical Systems (MEMS), or similar manufacturing process steps. You will utilize your excellent communications skills by working closely with internal and external customers. Your willingness to be challenged will help you learn the entire process of single-wafer wet process semiconductor equipment.
This role will be onsite 5 days a week.
Responsibilities:
Tool set up and clean up before and after customer process demonstrations, including loading and disposal of chemistry, developing the design of experiments, performing experiments, and summarizing results into a customer-facing report.
Operate the process equipment to promote completion of process demonstrations or experiments.
Learn and be competent with software programs to execute process testing and runs.
Increase Veeco's understanding of mechanical components of the tool by writing tests plans, performing the experiments, and then presenting the data.
Improve the current toolset and guide other process engineers.
Perform improvements/maintenance on equipment sets as needed and operate the metrology equipment (SEM, profilometer, etc.) to gather data in support of your experiments.
Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of process tools in operation or preparation for shipment.
Perform preventative maintenance of all types of the process equipment.
Follow all safety protocols for tool operation and maintenance and repairs.
Diagnose and fix electro/mechanical issues.
Work with semiconductor production equipment, including chemical/mechanical/electrical upgrades or modifications to accommodate customer applications.
Lead and manage internal R&D projects by developing success criteria, generating test plans, and gathering supporting data.
Help the engineering team understand the key requirements for wet process equipment being designed. Deploy best known method in the maintenance and operation of the tools to assist with this activity.
Minimum Qualifications:Requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Semiconductor tool experience is highly preferred.
Experience and knowledge of complex mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems including the ability to independently diagnose and fix electro/mechanical issues.
Ability to work in cleanroom attire and wear appropriate safety equipment as required.
Experience working in semiconductor or similar cleanroom fabs is highly preferred.
Experience with Metrology Equipment such as an optical microscope, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), ellipsometer, surface particle measurement, profilometer, and a four-point probe is ideal. A willingness to learn these techniques is required.
Proficient computer skills, including MS Office and ability to learn other software packages for equipment operation and data collection.
Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) to interact with colleagues, document activities, procedures, and BKMs for servicing.
Must have the ability to work independently to achieve goals and occasionally the flexibility to work various shifts.
Ability to routinely lift, pull or push objects of up to 50 pounds.
Willingness to travel to customer site (domestic or international) if necessary (up to 25% of the time).
