Overview:
Veeco is looking for a Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer to work out of its factory in Horsham, Pennsylvania. This position will drive quality improvement and risk mitigation initiatives associated with its suppliers and contract manufacturing partners. If you are a highly collaborative, self-motivated individual with strong communication skills, and you thrive in a fast-paced environment where data-based decision making is valued, then this could be the job for you.
Responsibilities:
Identify and implement appropriate supplier outgoing quality and incoming quality assurance inspection plans to support zero supplier defects impacting manufacturing operations.
Drive Root Cause Corrective Actions with suppliers utilizing appropriate NCMR and/or SCAR (8D Tools) to reduce supplier defectivity as measured at IQA and within manufacturing operations.
Participate and/or drive cross-functional supplier management teams enabling both selection and improvement of suppliers and contract manufacturers to provide successful delivery of on-time and on-target materials.
Create supplier quality improvement plans, perform supplier audits, implement closed loop corrective actions, and generate quality metrics and reports in support of supplier management program.
Work with suppliers to execute product quality plans (PQP) on critical parts and validate/audit their effectivity (i.e. process flows, pFMEA's, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, etc.).
Through deployment of supplier quality engineering best practices, enable cost-down and part quality improvement initiatives in partnership with supply chain and engineering.
Execute supplier audits to semiconductor industry standards to baseline; identify and drive improvement opportunities with select key suppliers.
Work closely with design and manufacturing engineering to review supplier specifications and redline drawings to improve supplier effectiveness, reduce supplier deviations and to improve inspections effectivity through the clarification of critical-to-quality requirements for critical parts.
Develop, refine, and deploy risk mitigation strategies during pre-production phases to enable successful new product launches.
Manage risk associated with changes in materials or processes, supporting change notification documentation and qualifications both internally and through Veeco's customers.
Ensure suppliers have implemented and are executing processes aligned to copy exact and change control expectations.
Utilize Statistical Process Control tools to enable identification of process control variances in our supplier base.
Drive efficiency and effectiveness improvements through the utilization and refinement of automated data management and information systems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 8 years of experience or a Master's degree and 6 years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, Quality or Manufacturing Engineering is required. ASQ CSQP preferred and ASQ QE; ASQ CQM/OE; ASQ/RAB Lead Auditor; Six Sigma Green or Black Belt are a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong problem-solving skills and a team player.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A history of effectively identifying and implementing root cause corrective actions.
Experience in electro-mechanical commodities is a plus.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally (10%).
The expected salary range for this position is $99,295.00 - $125,773.40, plus bonus opportunity. When determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
