Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Track the supplier’s performance indicators, based on their scorecards and ranking and in conjunction with the SCM group, to facilitate and develop the supply base’s ability to consistently meet or exceed our defined expectations.
Routinely provide performance communication to the supply base and internal personnel to ensure the proper use of suppliers based on performance.
Drive a systematic problem solving and process improvement approach utilizing Lean Six Sigma principles.
Function as a technical liaison between suppliers, engineering, SCM group, business group, and manufacturing sites, to resolve supplier related issues.
Assure supplier’s corrective and preventive action plans are developed and executed in compliance with Nordson expectations. Report on the status of corrective actions, as required, to the business group.
Manage relationships with suppliers in alignment with Nordson ethical business practices with a focus on improvement of product quality. Perform supplier audits/assessments in conjunction with the SCM group to ensure compliance with quality standards of their organization and collaborate on process improvement.
Develop and continually assess program for supplier quality audits and surveys that will serve to mitigate risks, improve quality, and strengthen relationships with the suppliers.
Ensure that all products delivered from a supplier comply to manufacturing specifications and company standards. Manage supplier quality escalations when appropriate.
Develop and implement inspection control plans for new and existing purchase parts.
Support and coordinate new product activities and direction to optimize the transition from new product development to production by promoting early supplier involvement at project development stages.
Provide direction to receiving inspection including procurement of tools to enhance measurement capability and setting inspection frequencies.
Provide direction for first article inspection reports and assist with mechanical inspection as needed.
Ensure compliance and assist with adherence to the Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015).
All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical related field required.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in quality engineering or related engineering field.
Experience in ISO 9001:2015.
Experience using ERP software, SAP preferred.
Experience using Minitab Statistical software &/or EIQ software is a plus.
Demonstrate understanding of quality tools and industrial statistics such as SPC, FMEA, and control planning.
Skills and Abilities
Must be able to use gages such as calipers, and micrometers.
Must be able to read engineering drawings and have knowledge of GD&T.
Ability to write simple correspondence, simple instructions, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Knowledge of quality control tools such as root cause analysis and basic SPC including CpK analysis.
Working knowledge of Six Sigma techniques, and ASQ certification preferred.
Superior audit and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
Ability to multi-task.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any level within the company.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Detail-oriented.
Must be able to travel to both the Rhode Island & Connecticut Facilities.
