Aspen is headquartered in Northborough, Mass.Aspen Aerogels is seeking an inspiring and motivated Quality Manager to drive the company's quality culture forward in the automotive sector. Reporting to the Director of Quality and the Site Director of Operations, this role will focus on driving functional excellence through technical and hands-on support. The Quality Manager will lead a team of Quality Engineers to ensure customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and adherence to internal business practices. The ideal candidate will foster strong, collaborative relationships across departments, including Operations, Process Engineering, Supply Chain, R&D, and EHS, to enhance product quality and reduce costs through process improvements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITESLead, implement and maintain successful certification of IATF 16949.Ensuring Aspen Quality System is understood, implemented and executed in all organizations for example but not limited to control plan, quality gates, incoming inspection and control plan management.Ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) aligns with customer, regulatory, and certification requirements.Promote a culture of quality by engaging and influencing key stakeholders across Aspen sites.Manage and implement quality programs that ensure consistent production aligned with established standards.Lead the implementation of the Problem-Solving and Corrective Action process across the organization.Lead or support root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for nonconformities.Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with document control policies. Ensuring all the process owners follow and execute the document control policy.Oversee and support quality functions such as APQP, Incoming Quality, Supplier Quality, Process Quality Lab, Product Qualification, Quality System Management, and audits.Lead and support activities related to PPAP, FMEA, SPC, Gage R&R, Supplier Qualification, Calibration, and Corrective & Preventive Actions in automotive assembly lines.Audit and monitor supplier quality performance.Oversee layered audit processes.Track and measure key quality metrics, such as customer complaints, first-time yield (FTY), and audit results, Dimensional Results (CPK trends), internal & external audits, PPAP accomplishments, Scrap, COPQ etc. As well performing employee performance reviews.Develop and execute strategic plans to improve key performance indicators (KPIs) and enhance customer satisfaction year over year.Prepare and present technical, program, and operational quality reports as needed.Manage the Quality department budget and CAPEX projects.Review and audit SOPs, validations, and other documents.Host and manage client and certification agency audits, addressing audit findings and ensuring corrective actions are completed.Train employees in QMS and ISO requirements.Manage, mentor, and develop quality personnel.Ensure the Automotive Core Tools are deployed throughout the organization.Ensure PFMEA and PCP are maintained as living documents with proper ownership and implementation.Ensure customer-specific requirements are understood and integrated into the QMS.Supervise and manage all aspects of the Quality Lab and equipment.Support and lead other special projects as assigned.Adopt and follow Aspen's core values of Safety, Quality, Integrity, Teamwork, Customer and Innovation on both a personal and professional level.
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of 8 years of experience in quality engineering and reliability roles within a manufacturing environment.Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, business, or science discipline (master's preferred).Proficiency with MS Office and statistical tools like Minitab or JMP.Six Sigma certification highly desirable.Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001:2015.At least 5 years of experience in the automotive sector (OEM or Tier 1).Ability to lead, manage, and perform tasks as required.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Proven ability to influence and build consensus among stakeholders.Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:Frequently required to stand, sit, and use hands.Occasionally required to walk, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl.Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.Occasionally exposed to extreme heat or cold.The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.Must occasionally lift and move up to 10 pounds.
