PSD Masters Program in Computer Science Staff
About the Department
The Masters Program in Computer Science (MPCS) is a professionally-oriented MS in Computer Science degree program in the Department of Computer Science. Our mission is to provide students a deep foundation in computer science and the essential skills required for a successful career in technology. Our rigorous curriculum covers theory, programming, and applications. Graduates of the MPCS are in demand by top companies for their ability to contribute immediately in technically challenging roles as well as to adapt quickly to rapidly evolving technologies.
The MPCS program has several programs of study, including a 9-Course and MS in CS program, a 12-course specialization MS in CS program, a Pre-Doctoral MS in CS and a joint MBA/MPCS program with the Booth School of Business. Students can complete the MPCS full time or part time. Areas of focus for students include Application Development, Data Analytics, High Performance Computing and Software Engineering.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Assistant Director of Admissions is a valuable member of the MPCS admissions and recruiting team. The Assistant Director of Admissions is responsible for program outreach, focusing on digital marketing and communications, yield events, and new student onboarding.
Responsibilities
Oversee the yield of newly admitted students, including managing communications, setting up and managing Canvas courses.Organize and execute orientation sessions to welcome new students and provide essential program information.Coordinate and administer placement exams for incoming students.Manage the student ambassador program, including recruitment, training, and engagement in outreach activities.Reconcile new student academic transcripts, confirming degree conferral from previous institutions.Assist with the review of applications, providing support in evaluating prospective students for admission.Serve as a primary contact for prospective students by responding to questions through email, phone, and virtual in-person meetings.Delivers information sessions, specialized presentations, and participates in virtual and on-campus events for prospective students.Develop and distribute monthly newsletters to keep students informed about program updates, events, and opportunities.Manage the program\'s social media channels, creating a content calendar to promote the program and inform our community across digital channels.Create engaging content, including alumni profiles and student spotlights, to showcase the program and its impact.Recruits and/or evaluates applicants for admission by interviewing, reading applications and summarizing evaluations. Completes these tasks independently or with some guidance and instruction from others.Participates in special projects such as developing marketing materials, monitoring budgets and recruiting underrepresented groups with moderate/high levels of authority.Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Proficiency in office software such as Microsoft Office, Google Docs, etc.Experience using Technolutions Slate as an applicant management system.Experience using Canvas, Zoom, Panopto, Mail Chimp or similar platforms.Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
