Job OverviewThis job opportunity is open to all US citizens and will be accepting candidate submissions until 15 November 2024.The AFRL/RV Deputy Director provides organizational leadership to the Space Vehicles Directorate as well as highly advanced technical guidance and recommendations regarding critical space technologies to diverse groups such as defense organizations, other agencies, the intelligence community, universities, and a large industrial base.Position duties include, but are not limited to:Oversees the formulation, planning, and execution of a broad range of Science and Technology (S&T) programs to support AFRL, USSF as well as broader Department of the Air Force priorities in force design, operational capabilities, and foundational S&T competencies.
Provides expert counsel to all levels of AFRL, USSF, USAF and DAF leaders, including general officer, senior executives, Secretary, and Service Chiefs.
Engages across a spectrum of defense organizations such as FIELDCOMS, MAJCOMs, COCOMS, HQ USAF including A10, HQ USSF, OSD, DARPA, and other US agencies to include DOE, NNSA, NASA, the intelligence community, universities, as well as the defense and commercial industrial base to promote collaboration and partnerships to achieve mission priorities.
Uses professional multidisciplinary engineering knowledge to lead and manage scientific research and development efforts across diverse, complex, and interdisciplinary technical areas, including Space Control, SDA, PNT, NDO, BMC2, ISR, and Space Comm, and the Nuclear S&T mission.
Responsible for performance of strategy-to-task, roadmap, and portfolio development; S&T program execution; and other contributions to the AFRL mission including active support to cross-enterprise collaboration and integration.
Provides supervision, leadership, management, and development over an organization comprised of civil service and military personnel, including technical subject-matter experts and mission support functions such as finance, security, manpower, contracting, information technology, and logistics.
Provides oversight and guidance of unclassified and classified (up to SAP/SAR) efforts.
