Assistant Director, Health Promotion
Description:The Office of Health Promotions at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County is seeking an Assistant Director for Health Promotion who will work with students to meet the Divisional priorities of fostering public health and safety and helping to develop life skills and interaction amongst UMBC students.

Office of Health PromotionThe Office of Health Promotion (OHP) contributes to a culture of wellbeing at UMBC by providing evidence-informed health promotion, resources, skills and support that are responsive to the needs of our community.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director of the Office of Health Promotion (OHP), the Assistant Director for Health Promotion will oversee the strategic development, implementation, evaluation and reporting of departmental health promotion and health education activities. This position will work in collaboration with other departments within the Division of Student Affairs and across the UMBC community to build departmental capacity and provide consultations to other units seeking to implement health promotion, public health and health education activities. This position will provide operational and administrative support to the Director, which includes departmental purchasing and internal budget management.The Assistant Director understands college students' unique health and wellbeing needs and how those needs can vary across race, gender, religion, age, socioeconomic status and other identities. The incumbent uses health equity and inclusive excellence lenses to develop intersectional programs, initiatives and outreach efforts that contribute to a culture of wellbeing at UMBC for all students.
Responsibilities:
Develop health promotion and health education activities and initiatives, including the selection and application of appropriate behavior change theories, the development of learning objectives, evidence-informed content and assessment tools.Define and develop key performance indicators and assessment activities, and reporting methods across all departmental programming.Recommend and contribute to the department’s strategic plan as it pertains to departmental programming.Recruit, hire, train and evaluate Peer Health Educator Interns.Provide direct supervision and mentorship to front desk office assistants.Oversee all departmental programmatic and training purchases.Develop and recommend departmental programming and Peer Health Educator Internship operations budget.Manage departmental programmatic, training and office assistant and intern stipend budgets.Develop and manage critical partnerships with external stakeholders and community partners.Serve on Division of Student Affairs and university-wide health and well-being committees.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree, preferably in Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion or a related fieldTwo years of professional experience in Public Health, Health Education or Health PromotionExperience developing, implementing and evaluating health promotion programsSupervisory experience and skills to effectively manage student employeesExperience conducting literature reviews, needs assessments and program evaluationsDemonstrated intercultural competence and commitment to advance health equityDemonstrated leadership abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) preferredThree or more years of professional experience in Public Health, Health Education or Health Promotion.Experience working in higher education
