OverviewThe Vice President of Operations will lead, direct, and implement strategic initiatives to achieve the company’s immediate and long-term business objectives across multiple functional areas including Production, Manufacturing Engineering and Systems, Maintenance, Facilities and Safety, and Logistics and Warehouse. This position will provide inspirational leadership and create a compelling vision for operational excellence with a focus on driving performance through continuous improvement, innovation, and high-impact business results all with a sense of urgency. The position reports to the President & CEO and will work closely with all functional areas of the company.RESPONSIBILITIES:Strategic Planning and ExecutionCollaborates with other departments as well as the executive leadership team to develop and meet the company’s strategic goals. Leads areas of responsibility with actions that are consistent with the company’s collaborative/employee ownership culture for success. Wears many hats and is comfortable concurrently managing tactical and strategic matters across all disciplines. Establishes, implements, and communicates the strategic direction of the organization’s operations department.Operational ManagementEstablishes and maintains safe operations by adhering to procedures and policies. Develops and maintains business plans and performance criteria to ensure department effectiveness and efficiencies that align with the strategic plan with a focus on achieving timeline commitments. Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related processes, policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.Process OptimizationPromotes a continuous improvement mindset and process in operational improvements and innovations at all levels. Develop, communicate, and implement effective growth strategies, operational processes, technology advancements, and organizational development plans to drive continuous improvement and scale through operational excellence and efficiency.Team LeadershipShould be able to lead the organization to become an efficient, world-class manufacturing company. Recruit, manage, coach, and lead managers and staff with the skills to maintain a high-quality organization. Train and develop staff to enhance skills, accountability, adaptability, and capability to work individually and in teams. Establish a mindset of accountability and winning throughout the organization by facilitating an effective goal deployment that aligns with corporate goals and strategy.Budget and Financial ManagementPrepares budgets and forecasts to achieve short and long-term business goals. Manages expenses and operating plans effectively to meet budget goals and achieve financial objectives. Ensures that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organization's strategic plan and vision.Customer FocusContinually supports the achievement of customers’ expectations for quality, delivery, operational simplicity, and cost competitiveness.Risk ManagementEnsure the outgoing quality, safety, and efficacy of all finished products, compliance with all applicable specifications, standard operating procedures, and regulatory requirements.Technology and InnovationMaintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in operations management. Uses the knowledge to identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.Performs other related duties as required.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in business administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field equivalent experience. A Master’s degree or MBA preferred.Minimum of 10 years experience, with 5+ in a senior-level leadership position with direct P&L oversight in a manufacturing environment. Sheet metal fabrication processes and equipment experience are desired.Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and functional working knowledge of ERP systems.Must have direct experience interfacing, and be comfortable communicating, with large, strategic customers.Must develop extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the manufacturing industry.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Advanced knowledge of lean manufacturing, technology, and industry standards. Six Sigma certification and/or education in lean/efficient engineering practices are strongly preferred.Demonstrated experience with proven results in strategic planning, analytics, and process improvement.Technical operations background preferred combined with experience bringing new products to market.Must be a decisive and results-oriented leader with a high sense of urgency.Flexible and able to multitask; Must be detail-oriented and accurate and able to work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems.Job Type:
