Position Summary:

The

Group Leader (Warehouse Supervisor)

is responsible for supervising hourly employees in a warehouse/manufacturing environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions. Responsible for the management functions of a fast-paced high technology lean based warehousing/supply chain operation. Accountable for the efficient use of people and resources to achieve financial and operational goals for the department.

Work You’ll Do:

Ensure effective employee relations:

Provides employee coaching and development.

Recommends employment decisions.

Resolve employee issues through problem resolution.

Track absenteeism and timekeeping.

Maintains day-to-day responsibilities of work scheduling, quality, and interfacing with other supervisors and managers as needed to meet the production schedule.

Ensures that Lean principles are being applied with the right goal in mind: To sustainably maximize the delivery of value to the customer.

Empowers others to find creative solutions to address complex problems that may impact the organization.

Evaluates the quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis.

Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of his/her own function to help arrive at a decision.

Creates platforms to drive optimization and continuously improve core areas of quality, safety, delivery, cost, and employee engagement.

Develops and implements manufacturing methods, quality standards, and performs cost analysis to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.

Ownership of training and technical development of employees including performance reviews, frequent feedback, and setting of goals and objectives.

Identifies and directs implementation of improvement opportunities by securing relevant information, asking effective questions, and developing solutions.

Resolves problems relating to materials, operations, quality, or other factors that may result in production delays.

Interacts with applicable engineering staff on piece part design, process development, and improvement.

Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.

Manages departmental performance measures, including visual controls, and provides regular progress reports to manager.

Manages department priorities and other duties/projects as assigned.

Team:

This role will be a part of the warehouse operations and will be supervising 20 direct reports on second shift. The team will span across the department in multiple functions including warehousing of production and aftermarket parts, receiving, and shipping.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field, or 4-5 years of relative experience in leading others with a high school diploma or GED equivalent, or a combination of both education and experience.

Demonstrated leadership, business, and financial understanding.

Ability to resolve conflicts and provide feedback.

Constraint management, ISO, systematic problem solving, BBS.

Preferred Qualifications:

Lean manufacturing background within a plant and operational managerial experience from a production/manufacturing setting is preferred.

Knowledge and practical experience of lean manufacturing principles, MRP is preferred.

Working experience in a manufacturing or warehousing/supply chain/inventory environment is preferred.
