VP of Operations and DistributionThe VP of Operations and Distribution will serve as a key executive leader, responsible for driving the operational excellence and strategic growth of the company’s warehousing and distribution functions across multiple locations along the East Coast. This role requires a forward-thinking leader with a passion for innovation, who will lead the warehousing operations into a technology-driven network designed to deliver best-in-class service to customers. This position will ensure operational efficiency across our client’s expansive footprint of approximately 1,000,000 square feet of warehousing space, while simultaneously spearheading business development efforts by cultivating relationships with key clients and identifying new growth opportunities. With a strong focus on customer-centric solutions, this role will be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of customer accounts—from onboarding new clients, to customizing warehousing solutions, to establishing new distribution facilities as the company expands its footprint.
As the VP of Operations and Distribution, you will have a direct hand in enhancing our client’s technological capabilities by implementing advanced data analytics and upgraded Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) that drive operational improvements. This role requires someone with a deep understanding of logistics and warehousing, combined with a strategic mindset to expand our client’s service offerings and ensure scalability for future growth.
In addition to leading the warehousing operations, this position will maintain a collaborative oversight and a relationship with the transportation and logistics division, ensuring seamless coordination and a unified approach to logistics. The VP will work directly with the COO, and oversee a high-performing team, including the Senior Director of Contract Logistics, Director of Contract Logistics, and Facilities Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities:Oversee and optimize the warehousing and distribution operations across multiple locations (Maine, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Florida), ensuring service excellence, cost efficiency, and operational performance.Develop and implement warehousing strategies to maximize space utilization, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.Lead efforts in process improvement and operational innovation, leveraging technology such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and automation to enhance productivity.Collaborate with senior leadership to create operational budgets, key performance indicators (KPIs), and strategic goals aligned with company objectives.Act as the primary point of contact for customers regarding warehousing and logistics services, ensuring customer satisfaction through tailored solutions and continuous engagement.Work closely with the sales and business development teams to foster relationships with new and existing clients, developing proposals for new accounts and expanding the company’s warehousing footprint.Ensure that the distribution network is aligned with customer expectations, achieving on-time delivery and high order accuracy.Lead the expansion of warehousing capabilities by identifying opportunities for new building projects and working with cross-functional teams to stand up new facilities.Drive innovation through the adoption of new technologies, including automation, data analytics, and other advanced solutions to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.Develop strategic partnerships with vendors, technology providers, and third-party logistics (3PL) firms to support expansion and service enhancements.Collaboration with the transportation division, providing support and solutions to ensure seamless coordination between warehousing and transportation.Partner with the IT department to ensure the effective use of WMS and other technology platforms across the warehousing network.Lead and mentor a team of direct reports, including the Senior Director of Contract Logistics, Director of Contract Logistics, and Facilities Maintenance Manager.Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence across the warehousing division.Provide leadership in organizational change management initiatives.Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in: Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or related field.10+ years of experience in warehousing, logistics, and distribution, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.Proven success in managing large-scale warehouse operations and developing custom solutions for diverse customers.Strong business acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.Deep understanding of warehousing systems, including WMS and ERP systems, with a track record of implementing operational innovations.Ability to think strategically while executing tactically in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.Ability to travel as needed (estimated 1-2 times per month).
