Equipment Specialist (Electronics) (120-Day Detail/Temporary Promotion Opportunity)
Opening Date : November 7, 2024Closing Date : November 19, 2024LC Organization Unit : Library Collections and Services GroupGrade : GS-12Series : 1670Availability : Library Employees OnlyDuration : up to 120 daysThe National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled is offering an opportunity for a qualified individual at the GS-11 level to serve on a full-time, 120-day temporary promotion to the GS-12 level, or a qualified individual at the GS-12 level to serve on a full-time, 120-day detail without promotion as an Equipment Repair Officer.The Equipment Repair Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Head of the Equipment and Infrastructure Section within the Business Operations Division.Duties include, but are not limited to:Directing a national repair program to maintain playback devices used in the NLS network.Analyzing data from network agencies to identify areas with device repair problems.Interpreting NLS and quality assurance standards for the network of repair agencies.Organizing, implementing, and monitoring processes related to equipment functionality and inspections.Preparing requisitions and monitoring the status of orders.Maintaining physical inventories for various parts and supplies.Inputting inventory counts in the automated inventory control system.Initiating actions to discard obsolete items.Providing technical equipment data for requisitions.Preparing statements of work and other technical documentation related to procurement actions.Fulfilling agency Contract Officer Representative (COR) duties.Providing advisory services related to equipment design and maintenance requirements.Application and Selection ProcessInterested candidates should:Obtain permission from their supervisor.Submit a
