This vacancy seeks applicants to work in one of two groups, the Action Group or Executive Engagements Group.
ESO's Action Group is responsible for task management; serves as the central point of contact, coordination, and control for correspondence and other communications for mission and support activities; ensures all appropriate offices are included in the tasking, correspondence drafting, and policy-making processes through a task management system; processes incoming and outgoing correspondence ensuring high quality, timeliness, and conformance with regulations and policies; develops and maintains standard operating procedures for tasking, coordination, formats, and records management. Action Group officers perform the following roles:
- Perform a comprehensive range of staff officer functions with impeccable attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple efforts simultaneously.
- Review, compose, edit, and distribute incoming and outgoing communication materials ensuring key stakeholder coordination, high quality and timely deliverables, and conformance with regulations and policies.
- Assign action items to appropriate ODNI components and Intelligence Community (IC) elements, log and track task status, negotiate extensions to deadlines, anticipate impediments to successful and timely responses, and report task status to senior management.
- Coordinate with ODNI senior staff and relevant subject matter experts (SMEs) to provide valuable and timely information.
- Review materials submitted by the SMEs to ensure accuracy, grammar, and use of the correct format.
- Establish and maintain relationships with ODNI components, Intelligence Community elements, and other relevant partners.
- Ensure proper handling of highly classified and limited distribution materials.
- Manage, track, edit, and review actions (e.g., incoming and ongoing correspondence, congressionally directed actions, policies, reports/assessments, briefing/read ahead materials, etc.) for the DNI, PDDNI, and COO.
ESO's Executive Engagements Group is responsible for coordinating external engagements (e.g., meetings with academia, foreign counterparts, military officials, private sector partners, etc.) and executive travel, both foreign and domestic, for the DNI and PDDNI. Executive Engagement Group officers perform the following roles:
- Compile and staff executive engagement requests for principal review and decision.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to obtain recommendations for requested or proposed engagements.
- Work closely with the Protocol officers to ensure the seamless transfer of information and execution of the engagement.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to offer travel recommendations.
- Serve as a travel coordinator, responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all aspects of the executive's trip with a myriad of relevant stakeholders and subject matter experts.
- Work with ODNI directorates, centers, and offices and IC components to compile background and briefing material.
- Prepare and distribute invitations, seating diagrams, guest rosters, make recommendations and purchase official gifts, and perform other administrative and protocol-related items related to official meetings and events.
- Manage the successful execution of large, complex, and high-level official functions, ensuring the principal, organization, and United States is well represented.
RequirementsConditions of Employment
Must be a U.S. Citizen residing in the United States
Appointment is subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on an SBI with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI)
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
A two-year trial period is required for all new permanent appointments to the ODNI.

- Management: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to proactively manage competing priorities under strict deadlines.
- Self-Starter: Resourceful; able to take initiative and begin projects independently, as required.
- Superb Communicator: Superior communication, writing, and technical editing skills, with demonstrated success producing documents that are clear and concise for senior executives.
- Team Building: Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member in a sometimes fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Bachelor's Degree.
Desired Requirements:
- Experience supporting executives and/or senior government officials.
- Knowledge of the ODNI and IC mission, organization, roles, and responsibilities.
- Proficiency using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote).
