WORK LOCATION : San Luis Obispo, CA or Huntsville, ALSALARY RANGE : San Luis Obispo, CA: $168,763 - $220,481Huntsville, AL: $145,855 - $205,779FLSA STATUS : ExemptSUMMARYThe Technical Lead is a key leader within our Engineering team, tasked with directing the technical trajectory and ensuring the quality of the end products delivered by our projects. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of technical requirements for complex UAS and supporting systems with highly visible customers, coupled with a commitment to delivering superior solutions. The Technical Lead will oversee the technical aspects of projects, mentor the engineering team, and ensure that all technical outcomes adhere to the highest quality standards.RESPONSIBILITIESThe following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.Providing technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team across projects involving complex systems.Ensuring the technical excellence and quality of end products.Developing and maintaining a deep technical understanding of the assigned products and associated mission/support equipment at Subject Matter Expert level.Developing and implementing technical strategies that meet the unique challenges of advanced systems.Collaborating with project managers and stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with strategic business goals.Overseeing the design, development, and implementation of technical solutions for complex systems.Communicating with customers (military and government agencies) at various levels.Ensuring the engineering team produces required non-product deliverables (reports, data requests, etc.)Conduct technical reviews for military and government customers.Maintaining knowledge of industry standards and technological advancements within aerospace.Conducting technical reviews and assessments to ensure compliance with rigorous project specifications.Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the technical team.Mentoring and developing engineering staff to build a robust, technically proficient team.Assuming additional responsibilities as required.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSThe following are a non-exhaustive list of qualifications for the position:Minimum of 7 years of experience in a technical lead role, preferably in electrical, aero, medical devices, or mechanical engineering.Demonstrated success in delivering technically complex projects to defense clients.Extensive experience in overseeing the development of high-quality technical solutions.Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science or related technical field.Exceptional leadership and technical management skills.Understanding of technical requirements and quality standards including Aviation industry and Military Standards.Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to technical excellence.Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Proficient in various engineering methodologies and tools relevant to defense projects including MS Office, Jira, Confluence, and Cameo.Ability to inspire and cultivate innovation and excellence within the technical team.Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSAdditional certifications related to project management or specific technologies used in defense projects.Master’s degree preferred in engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.EDGE AUTONOMY BENEFITSMatching 401(k)Paid PTOPaid holidaysMedical, vision, and dental insuranceGroup Short-Term & Long-Term DisabilityHSA and FSA OptionsCritical Care PlanAccident Care PlanHiring RequirementsIf an offer of employment is extended, applicant must have the ability to pass a background check and the ability to be insured by the Company’s Auto-policy.
