The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description.Assists the Family Store Manager in supervising the day-to-day operations of the Family Store; trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures.Supervises and participates in the cashier activities ensuring that all customers are treated in a polite and friendly manner; assists Store Clerks in ringing-up, recording, and receipting sales; assists Store Clerks in resolving problems; ensures the security and accountability of the cashier funds; assists in preparing daily sales reports and bank deposits.Be well-versed in, and ensure compliance to,

manual and all other Salvation Army policies and procedure manuals including verbal and written warnings.Assists customers in locating items and prices; assists customers donating items; explains store policy and ensures compliance with the same.Supervises and participates in maintaining the store displays; arranges, rotates, and re-stocks displayed items to ensure the displays remain in a plentiful, neat and orderly manner for customer convenience and store attractiveness.Determines appropriate prices for merchandise ensuring quick turnover of stock while also bringing a fair and reasonable price for The Salvation Army; detects merchandise that is not moving and reduces prices accordingly when necessary.Supervises the unloading of incoming donations in the warehouse; ensures that items are properly sorted, stocked, and/or discarded in accordance with established policies and procedures; inspects appliances and furniture for needed repairs; supervises and assists in performing repair work; supervises and assists in bailing clothes.Prepares, maintains, and files various store reports, records, forms, etc. including community service records; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.Assumes additional responsibilities in the absence of the Family Store Manager.Performs work of the Store Clerk as needed.Receive applications; participate in interviewing of applicants when needed.Performs special projects as needed.Performs other related work as required.Materials and EquipmentCash RegisterBailerPrice-GunCalculatorHand-Held ToolsCleaning ProductsKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of effective and efficient techniques for merchandising retail store items.Knowledge of the principles and practices of basic mathematics.Knowledge of effective customer service techniques.Ability to prepare and maintain attractive merchandise displays.Ability to supervise, lead, and motivate the work of subordinate employees.Ability to assume additional supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Family Store Manager.Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.Ability to operate a cash register.Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and count change.Ability to stand for extended periods of time.Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.Education and ExperienceHigh School diploma or G.E.D.andOne (1) year experience working in a retail store preferably a Salvation Army Family Store with some experience supervising the work of co-workers,orAny equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Physical Requirements/Working ConditionsDuties are performed by frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.Work is performed in a stock-room, warehouse, or store environment where there are discomforts associated with changes in whether; there are occasional discomforts associated with noise, crowds, dust, lint, chemical odors and the like.Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment.
