Job Description - Program Coordinator of Educational Program in Healthcare in Boston Public Schools - Per Diem (3311340)SummaryWe are seeking a

Program Coordinator (per diem up to 10 hours per week with very flexible schedule)

to organize and coordinate a program aimed at educating Boston Public School students in grades 3-5 about career options in healthcare. The long-term goal of the project is to positively impact the career trajectories of diverse students, with ripple effects on the wellbeing of their families, the wider Boston community, and the world at-large.The Program Coordinator will work with Dr. Julie Silver from the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital to implement a funded 3-year educational program that will provide hands-on activities to students during 90-120-minute sessions in the classroom and during afterschool and vacation week programs. The individual will coordinate all aspects of the educational program, including determining session dates in conjunction with designated representatives in the Boston Public Schools, organizing healthcare specialists who will be involved in delivering the educational sessions, and being the point person during implementation of the sessions at host sites.The ideal Program Coordinator will have experience in healthcare, teaching and/or community programming.Key ResponsibilitiesManage all organizational and logistical aspects of the educational program.Coordinate program with Boston Public Schools and affiliated afterschool and vacation week programs.Develop and maintain strong relationships with Boston Public School partners.Coordinate per diem healthcare professionals involved in the educational sessions.Source and purchase materials required for educational sessions.Manage program budget.Work with Dr. Silver and her assistant to build the educational program.Solve logistical issues as they arise and make recommendations for program adjustments as needed.Must be able to travel to Boston Public Schools host sites for program sessions (generally no more than 1-2 times per month).Qualifications, Experience and SkillsExcellent organizational and communications skills.Comfort with interpersonal skills and standards of professionalism.Experience working with individuals of diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds desirable.Experience in program management in healthcare, education, or community-building desirable.Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively.Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).Education/DegreeRequired:Associates Degree in Business, Education, Communication, or related discipline.Preferred:Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Education, Communication, or related discipline.ExperienceRequired:Must have at least a bachelor’s degree.3 years of experience in program management in healthcare, education, or community building.Preferred:Experience with healthcare clinical/administrative systems & processes.Skills

(Specific learned activity gained through training (e.g. computer skills, keyboarding, presentation, CPR, ACLS, etc.)Required:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent analytical problem solving and negotiation skills.Ability to build consensus and strong working relationships across teams, with staff and leadership.Ability to review program materials and deliverables for completeness, quality, and compliance with established standards.Ability to document and communicate metrics and program materials and deliverables.Work independently, be self-directed and contribute as a member of a team.High level of service delivery.
