The Village of Lisle is seeking a professional to join the Development Services Department. The Building Official enforces the Village’s building code which includes the location, design, materials, constructions, alteration, repair, equipment, maintenance, use, occupancy, removal and demolition of the buildings, structures and appurtenances. In addition, performs a broad range of building, permitting and code administrative functions, including plan reviews, building inspections, code administration, interpretation, and code compliance. The position works directly with property owners, architects, contractors, builders, and residents to explain code requirements, answer code-related questions and diagnose and resolve project- specific permitting and construction related problems.Minimum QualificationsCertification by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Certified Building Official (CBO) is required. Associate degree is required. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Technology or a related field is highly preferred. Five to seven years of experience in the building design or construction industry, building or housing inspection, code enforcement, or closely related field. International Code Council (ICC) certifications required including: Certified Building Official, Building Plans Examiner, Commercial Building Inspector, and Residential Combination Inspector (Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing.) Valid Illinois driver’s license.CompensationThis is FLSA exempt with an excellent benefit package, including health and life insurance, IMRF pension, vacation time, paid holidays and sick days. Hiring range for this position is $81,575-112,166 DOQ. Expected hiring salary is $81,575-$96,871.To ApplyThe position is open until it is filled.
