As a team member in our innovative company, the supervisor is responsible for all aspects of the department’s day-to-day operations, including managing priorities, resources, equipment, and personnel effectively and efficiently with the goal of operational excellence. The supervisor ensures that the Laitram Business Philosophy and Continuous Improvement Program are implemented throughout the department.Responsibilities

Confirm all safety and quality procedures are followed.Supervise and lead the 10-12 employees across two shifts on the Materials Management team.Provide timely, specific feedback to employees, including formal biannual performance reviews and annual performance improvement planning in line with the Laitram Continuous Improvement timeline.Build an effective team by supporting employee development and fostering teamwork and communication between individuals, teams, and departments.Coordinate all aspects for the saw, press, receiving, materials management, inventory control & shipping operations for the Machine Shop.Analyze workflow and priorities, identify constraints, and develop informed options to meet customer expectations and increase overall productivity.Manage and maintain workflow of material from receipt, storage, in-process, return to inventory in an organized approach, including shop supplies.Manage the shipping and receiving of inventory items and finished goods.Monitor the performance of the Materials Management department.Maintain inventory accuracy to required standards.Ensure completion of regular cycle counts of inventory items to verify accuracy/location.Perform annual ABC analysis to assign efficient cycle count routines to all inventory items.Design and continuously improve the storage and layout of all warehouse and storage locations.Identify opportunities and lead projects that improve processes and machining capabilities striving for operational excellence and a highly efficient use of available resources.Requirements

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in material management/control operations.Previous supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing/production environment.Strong supervisory and organizational skills with proven success developing and executing key initiatives.Demonstrated success with a structured approach to problem-solving.Effective verbal and written communication.Solid computer skills.Familiarity and experience with the use of manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems.Understanding of the demands associated with supporting a manufacturing environment.Able to work outside of regular shift hours (nights, weekends, holidays) as needed.Desired Qualifications

B.S. degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or comparable.Supervision in a machine shop or metal fabrication environment.Experience with Saw and Press equipment.Experience with Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing software (e.g., Solidworks, MasterCAM).Oracle/Mapics/Other MRP system experience a plus.
