At AIG, technology is at the heart of everything we do, from underwriting risks to processing claims. The Information Technology team equips our colleagues with the latest tools to complete their work efficiently and with the highest standards of excellence. The team is responsible for shielding the company’s systems from security risks, while designing technology strategies that enable AIG’s businesses to achieve their goals. AIG’s Information Technology functions include enterprise architecture, software and systems engineering, cybersecurity, and technology risk and compliance.

About the role

The AVP of Technology Governance and Compliance is responsible for ensuring our technologies and control environments are compliant with cyber privacy related regulations. The incumbent will identify control gaps and partner with various groups including Legal, Information Security, Risk Management, and Business IT teams, to develop remediation plans and actively monitor them to completion. This role will also partner with control owners to determine control effectiveness and provide visibility to senior management.

Responsibilities

Advise on effective risk mitigation strategies and ensure implementation of controls/processes to comply with the regulations.

Perform scoping assessments for upcoming regulations and inspection of relative technologies and oversee implementation by driving timely completion of risk related deliverables and issue resolution.

Keep abreast of current technology trends, regulatory risks, vulnerabilities, and emerging technologies.

Effectively engage with technology teams to gain full understanding of technology and the control environment.

Understand third party risks as related to specific technology area/regulatory scope.

Work with appropriate technology areas to identify high risk areas and perform assessments of the corresponding inherent risks and recommend mitigating controls that meet organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Coordinate validation discussions with second and third lines of defense.

Requirements

7+ years of relevant work experience required.

Experience with New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) cybersecurity regulation required.

Solid understanding of key information security controls, such as MFA and encryption, preferred.

Experience with a focus on risk management or regulatory compliance preferred.

Insurance/Financial services experience preferred.

Experience managing a team of professionals preferred.

Strong attention to detail and project management/organization skills to prioritize workloads and assignments in a deadline-oriented environment.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate effectively with senior leaders and IT stakeholders.

Ability to think strategically and understand ‘big picture’.

Ability to identify complex problems and escalate as necessary.

Ability to identify issues and trends in order to anticipate change and provide recommended comprehensive solutions and remedies.

The base salary range for this position in Jersey City, NJ, is $122,000 - $153,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
