Akebia Therapeutics is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director, Global Logistics to lead the development and execution of logistics strategies to support Akebia's global commercial and clinical supply chains. This role requires a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for optimizing logistics operations, managing vendor relationships, ensuring regulatory compliance and driving continuous improvement across a complex international network.

Essential Functions and Duties

Global Supply Chain Strategy & Operations:

Develop and implement logistics strategies aligned with Akebia's business objectives for all commercial and clinical products.

Oversee international transportation, warehousing, and distribution to ensure efficient, timely delivery and cost-effective operations.

Vendor & Risk Management:

Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers and carriers, third-party storage facilities and other supply chain partners, negotiating contracts and service level agreements for reliable logistics services.

Develop risk scorecards, identifying global supply chain risks and developing contingency plans to mitigate risks and ensure business continuity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Compliance:

Work closely with CMC Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Procurement, and Commercial Operations to integrate logistics activities and ensure compliance with international regulations, including Good Distribution Practices and customs.

Performance Monitoring, Inventory & Improvement:

Establish and use key performance indicators (KPIs) and analytics to monitor logistics performance, manage global inventory levels, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Technology, Sustainability & Team Leadership:

Implement logistics technology solutions to improve visibility and data management.

Develop strategies to reduce the environmental impact of logistics operations.

Lead and develop a high-performing logistics team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

10+ years of experience in global logistics and supply chain management, with 5+ years in a leadership role, preferably in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of international logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.

Proven experience managing logistics for both clinical and commercial supply chains.

Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data for decision-making and optimization.

Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions. Proven capability in executive reporting and effective communication with senior leadership.

Compensation:

Targeted Base: 179,399 - 211,610*

*Base Compensation for this role will depend on a number of factors including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, and may fall outside of the range shown. Base pay is only one component of the company's total rewards package, a

ll regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or the incentive compensation program (if applicable), as well as equity. Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, etc.
