As a Big Data Cloud Engineer in our Enterprise Data Analytics & Enablement, you’ll play a key role for leading the development and maintenance of Spark-based applications on our on-prem Hadoop platform. This position plays a crucial role in assisting with the migration of our on-prem Hadoop platform to the cloud, involving activities such as re-platform and reengineering.Banking is changing and we’re changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Build, test and support a secure, robust and scalable Data Ecosystem on the Enterprise Big Data (EBD) Platform.Solving ambiguous and complex engineering problems.Work collaboratively within and across teams, Tech Areas and Domains.Utilise tools and practices to build, verify and deploy solutions in the most efficient ways, placing a high emphasis on Software Fundamentals.Implement a culture within the Tribe and the Chapter, encouraging best practices around reviews, quality, and documentation.Provide ongoing support for platforms as required e.g. problem and incident management.What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:Programming experience in one or more of Java, Scala or Python.Expertise in at least one commercial distribution of Hadoop.Experience with Big Data Stack including Spark, Hive, YARN, Kafka, Hbase, Solr, Oozie, Control M etc.Good experience in automating manual activities.1 year or more experience in Big Data implementation on cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or any other cloud platform.Ability to integrate Kafka to handle real-time data.Experience in migration of on-prem Hadoop data & pipelines to any cloud platform.Proficiency in monitoring tools like Splunk and other cloud-native tools.You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills.
