As an Engineer in the DBaaS squad (CDA, CDIS), you will play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, management, and support of Cloud Databases on AWS and GCP. You will be responsible for building scalable, reliable, and secure database solutions, leveraging modern DevOps practices and cloud-native technologies.In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that drive the success of our cloud database offerings. You will also be responsible for optimizing database performance, ensuring high availability, and troubleshooting issues to maintain a seamless user experience.Role Type: PermanentWhat will your day look like?

As an Engineer in our DBaaS squad, you will:Develop DevOps solutions for deploying Cloud Database services such as AWS RDS and GCP Cloud SQL, ensuring seamless integration and scalability within our cloud environment.Participate in the deployment, maintenance at scale of Cloud Databases, including configuration of cloud services, troubleshooting database and platform-related issues, and performing essential database-level tasks to ensure optimal performance.Execute database migrations following best practices, including both like-for-like and heterogeneous migrations (e.g., from on-prem PostgreSQL to cloud PostgreSQL, on-prem Oracle to cloud PostgreSQL, cloud PostgreSQL to cloud PostgreSQL, etc.).Enhance automation practices using serverless technologies like AWS Lambda and GCP Cloud Functions, leveraging Python or Golang to automate repetitive database and cloud service tasks such as onboarding, patching, and restore testing.Promote the adoption of advanced database technologies such as GCP Cloud Spanner, AWS Redshift, Firestore, and Graph databases by leading proof-of-concept initiatives and collaborating with workload teams to evaluate and integrate these technologies.What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:Core Skills:Core Database Experience: A genuine interest in database management, with 5+ years of hands-on experience on PostgreSQL, MySQL etc.Cloud Database & Infrastructure Expertise: Strong knowledge of cloud database design, with hands-on experience in DevOps tools like Terraform and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Codefresh) for automating database management. 3+ years of experience working with major cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP).Database Migration Proficiency: Experience in executing both like-for-like and heterogeneous database migrations (e.g., on-prem to cloud or cross-cloud), ensuring smooth transitions between environments.Additional Skills:Advanced Database Technologies: Familiarity with niche database technologies like Cloud Spanner, Firestore, Redshift, Graph databases, and caching solutions.Programming & Automation: Proficiency in languages and tools like Terraform, Go, Python, and CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, Codefresh) to automate workflows and build reliable database applications.Desired Attributes:User-Focused: A commitment to enhancing the user experience and performance of the cloud services you manage.Excellent Communicator: Able to clearly explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Lifelong Learner: Constantly seeking opportunities to expand your knowledge and improve your skills.You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills.
