The Career Opportunity
This is an exceptional opportunity for a results-driven and self-motivated individual who has a strong data analytics background and will be excited to deeply understand transit operations and business needs. Major responsibilities include business requirement gathering, creating mockups, developing Power BI reports and other standardized reports, continuous improvement and audit of those reports, and analysis of data and business performance to identify challenges and areas for improvement. The individual will become a subject matter expert in one or more departmental areas of MARTA. To succeed, it is important that the individual is a strong analytical and solution-oriented thinker, able to learn quickly, take direction, and work independently as well as part of a team.
How will you impact MARTACreating actionable business intelligence to help MARTA make better decisions through:
Building relationships with internal clients to understand their needs.Collecting and analyzing data through statistical techniques and effectively communicating trends and patterns to translate data into meaningful insights.Building intuitive, impactful, and insightful data visualizations.Evaluating data quality, and designing and implementing processes to assure quality.Developing process maps for business practices to identify bottlenecks and find opportunities for optimization and automation.Supporting implementation of recommended strategies through role and responsibility identification, workflow development, change management support, and collecting feedback.Quantifying and evaluating impact of improvement strategies on key metrics.
Creating and managing business analytics through all phases, including data exploration, automation, analysis, visualization, and presentation of results.Coordinating regular and ad hoc report production, including writing reports, memos and other communications as needed.Communicating effectively in writing and presentations to technical and non-technical partners and audience.Staying current on relevant research, tools, and methodologies in the fields of transit, data analytics, and/or strategic performance.
Education/QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, Industrial/Organizational Management, or related field is required.Four years (Six years for Senior Performance Analyst) of progressively responsible experience working in quantitative analysis, operations, project management, or related fields, including using data visualization software (E.g., Power BI or Tableau) and conducting advanced data analytics (E.g., Multivariate statistics, network and cluster analysis, forecasting, machine learning and pattern matching).Experience with data analysis software (E.g., R, Stata). Experience with coding and database maintenance (E.g., SQL, R, Python). Experience communicating effectively in writing and in presentations to technical and non-technical partners and audiences.Master's or Doctorate degree, or other advanced degree (E.g., Six Sigma) is preferred. Experience in a public agency or public transit industry preferred.
Salary Range:
$60,000-$90,000
