Key Responsibilities:
Process Optimization: Assist our engineering team in optimizing chemical processes used in composite materials manufacturing, including resin formulation, curing processes, and material handling. Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.Support Manufacturing Operations: Gain practical experience in composite boat manufacturing by assisting with production activities, process optimization, and quality control initiatives. Work on the shop floor alongside experienced technicians to learn about manufacturing processes and techniques.Conduct Testing and Analysis: Assist in conducting tests and experiments to evaluate the performance, durability, and safety of composite materials and boat components. Collect data, analyze results, and present findings to the engineering team.Assist with Design Projects: Collaborate with our engineering team on design projects related to composite boat structures, systems, and components. Participate in brainstorming sessions, create CAD models, and contribute ideas for innovative solutions.Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of engineering activities, including design changes, test results, and project milestones. Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings and recommendations.Project Support: Provide support to engineering projects by performing tasks such as literature reviews, data analysis, and prototype development. Work closely with project managers and team members to ensure project objectives are met.Learn and Grow: Take advantage of learning opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills in composite materials, engineering principles, and manufacturing processes. Ask questions, seek guidance from mentors, and actively participate in training sessions and workshops.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited engineering program (mechanical/production/process/chemical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials science, or related field).
- Strong academic record with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Eagerness to learn and a passion for innovation in engineering.
Duration: The internship will last for 8-12 weeks, depending on the availability and schedule of the selected candidate.
