The purpose of this position is to install, maintain, and monitor the operation of the organization's local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN). Lead strategic planning efforts, capacity planning, functional, and technical design of enterprise systems, and resolution of complex problems. Evaluate vendor products in hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment and recommend purchases consistent with the organization's short and long term objectives. Recommend and implement LAN policies and standards and ensures adherence to security procedures. Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair/fix for network hardware and software related problems.
This is the advanced senior level class in the Network Engineer series. Positions at this level possess a specialized, technical, or functional expertise within the area of assignment and may exercise lead or project supervision over assigned lower-level staff. Employees are typically assigned significant responsibilities and often exercise independent judgment in the performance of all duties. This class is distinguished in that it performs the most complex work assigned to series and serves in a project supervision capacity over lower-level staff.

Collaborates with executive management and department leaders to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs.Creates and maintains documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.Develops, implements and maintains policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.Designs and deploys company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, UPSs, and other hardware.Conducts research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.Participates in managing all network security solutions.Interacts and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.Monitors network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.Provides 24x7x365 emergency support for the IT network infrastructure.Provides guidance and training to other members of the team.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
