JOB SUMMARY:Responsible for the production of machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.Sets up CNCs, mills, and lathes by installing and adjusting the appropriate tools.Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processesMaintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needsDemonstrates cooperative communication with other departments and functions including production, machining, welding, purchasing, engineering, and other corporate leaders.Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for contributions and leading by example; and exploring opportunities to add value to accomplishments of new and existing jobs.Follow quality control standards to ensure meeting quality and quantity requirementsMaintains safe operations by adhering to safety protocols and regulations.Monitor wear of consumable tools and notify purchasing as requiredAccurately report work performedKeep work area neat and orderly and follow all safe work practice requirementsMaintain identification of all parts and materials and record location of the sameReport abnormal machine operating conditions immediatelyPerforms other duties as assigned. RequirementsQualifications:A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required and 3 years of CNC experience is strongly desired.Must be able to successfully operate an overhead cranePossess and practice good oral and written communication skills.Treat fellow co-workers with dignity and respect.Possess and utilize basic math skills and exercise superior organizational skillsPrior CNC, production machine, and/or welding experience is highly desired.Maintain and exhibit a positive attitude toward our work and our work environment.Demonstrated experience with hand and power tools, banders, hoists, and other production equipment, as well as an overall mechanical aptitudeForklift certification is required.Participate in training events (ie; Lockout/Tagout; HazCom; and overhead crane training)Knowledge:GD&T conceptual skills, process improvement, verbal communication, functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation, supply management, tooling, coordination, inventory control, attention to detail, and sound judgment.EQUIPMENT LISTING (MACHINES, TOOLS & SOFTWARE):Basic personal computer skills that include the ability to send/receive e-mail messages. May be required to operate Computer, Email, Microsoft Excel, Printer, Copier, Fax Machine, Telephone, Scanner, calculator, micrometers and gauges, power tools, hand tools, forklifts, and pallet jacks. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND DEMANDS:Moderate Lifting: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to move objects.MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMAND:Close mental and visual attention to prepare and analyze data and figures, work on a computer, read, or control machines or processes at a rapid pace that requires close coordination and fine adjustment. Moderate mental and visual attention to perform manual work, machine operations, set-ups, inspections, and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for variance from proper operation. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:Work Environment: Work in a production area exposed to seasonal temperatures, both high and low. Occupational Hazards: Proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, welding flash, and exposure to potential injury without safe work practices and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).Safety Equipment: May wear a variety of PPE, including safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes, and other required PPE in accordance with working tasks. PPE may include gloves and hearing protection when performing certain functions.Salary Description $23.00 to $ 28.00/ HR
