Team Overview
The Senior Staff Embedded Engineer is a member of the Advanced Development Organization, responsible for embedded system solutions for the next generation lidar sensor. The candidate will be on-site and responsible for designing state-of-the-art circuits, testing, and system integration. In this role, you will be responsible for electrical systems ideation, design, implementation, modeling, and support volume ramp-up.Responsibilities
Deliver next-generation, best-in-class embedded systems concepts and solutions for Luminar's LiDAR products.Lead, mentor and collaborate with a world-class, highly skilled and capable embedded systems engineering team.Provide opportunities for team members' professional growth and development.Drive solutions and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable next-generation best-in-class LiDAR products.Facilitate and participate in the invention process both for embedded systems as well as algorithm solutions which enable next-generation best-in-class LiDAR products.Manage project priorities and scope to meet schedule. Collaborate with other highly skilled embedded and algorithm teams within the company to deliver solutions.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, mechanical engineering or related degree10+ years of working experience on embedded systems development5+ years of working experience with FPGA/SoC developmentWorking experience with task management and common project management toolsWorking experience with SoC devices including but not limited to Xilinx SoCWorking experience with digital signal processing algorithms and their deployment in Embedded Systems/FPGAFamiliar with several programming languages (C/C++, Python, Matlab)Working knowledge of servo control theory and algorithmsPreferred QualificationsMaster's or PhD Degree in related engineering fieldExperience with LiDAR or otherwise Optomechanical Systems / APD's / Lasers / TEC'sResponsible for architecting and developing (hdl/c) for SoC-based embedded systems using Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ SoCsExperience with Xilinx RFSoC DevicesFamiliar with Verilog and VHDLExperience with developing and deploying Digital Signal Processing Algorithms in embedded systemsExperience with developing and delivering servo-mechanical control systems via embedded systemsExperience collaborating in ASIC development and/or developing RTL for ASICExperience with common dev-ops and developer tools (Git/Jira/Docker/Static Analysis/Linting)

At Luminar, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays a base between $140,000 and $190,000 per year. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. You will also be eligible to receive other benefits including: equity in the form of restricted stock unit awards, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, 401k plan, life and disability benefits, flexible time off, paid parental leave, and tuition reimbursement for formal education related to advancing your career at Luminar. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire and schedule type.
