The Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) team owns all of the software and infrastructure that powers Amazon's world-class fulfillment engine. In the service of our customers, we are innovating in the areas of inventory handling automation, robotics, and machine learning. In parallel, we are continuously improving our processes using techniques such as lean, six-sigma, and Kaizen.
AFT owns the fundamental data and services that drive our catalog, inventory, and cost management systems. These systems underlie everything that we dotens of millions of catalog items, hundreds of millions of inventory items, and billions of transactions a year! Every item that comes from a vendor into the Amazon network, moves around, and goes out to a customer comes through our systems.
Our team in the Austin office is developing next-generation inventory systems for managing records of physical goods across AFTs globally distributed fulfillment network. These services will enable business growth by capturing data during every step in the automated pipeline and using that data to proactively predict efficiency and cost improvements to deliver packages quickly to our customers. Key job responsibilities
This is your chance to make a direct impact on Amazon's core Fulfillment Technologies platform. The Amazon Fulfillment Technologies Team is looking for a highly talented software engineer to help build fast, scalable systems for solving problems such as:
- Record and analyze data to improve the efficiency of the fulfillment pipeline in real time.
- Build fault-tolerant systems that can process billions of requests per day.
- Optimize processes in our fulfillment centers through tracking, analysis, and automation.

About the team
Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazons global fulfillment network. We invent and deliver software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. We harmonize the physical and virtual world so Amazon customers can get what they want, when they want it.
Inventory
AFTs Inventory team delivers complex, innovative, scalable solutions to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of all physical goods across the Amazon fulfillment network, ensuring both inventory record accuracy and safe inventory handling for billions of items.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
