ECS is seeking a Software Engineer/Applications Programmer (Int) to work in our Morgantown, WV office. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.Job Description:ECS is seeking a qualified Software Engineer/Applications Programmer (Int) to support transformative science and technology solutions for the Department of Energy. This position will support the execution of multiple projects. Initial efforts will be focused upon system integration, design, and testing of software solutions.Responsibilities include:Designing and coding software components, units, and modules that meet product specifications and development schedules.Testing and debugging assigned components and units.Participating in large system and subsystem planning.Adhering to product build and release schedules and strategies.Acting as a technical resource for lower-level developers.Requiring comprehensive knowledge of one or more platforms and operating systems, and of programming languages.Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.Planning and accomplishing goals based on experience and judgment.Performing a variety of complicated tasks with a wide degree of creativity and latitude expected.Working under general supervision.This position requires technical skills in areas such as software development, systems engineering, and enterprise application integration. The candidate works closely with the Project Manager, Technical Lead, direct customer leadership, and third-party modeling partners to swiftly develop solutions in an agile environment and deploy capabilities to the operational end user. The candidate cultivates an environment that promotes customer service, excellence, innovation, collaboration, and teamwork.Required Skills:Bachelor's Degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field AND two years of practical experience in programming and coding, ORAssociate's Degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field AND four years of practical experience in programming and coding, ORSix years of practical experience in programming and coding.Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or DOE Q clearance throughout the life of the contract.Must be a US Citizen.Must currently live in Morgantown, WV or be willing to relocate.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Desired Skills:Active Top Secret or DOE Q Clearance with the ability to maintain clearance throughout the life of the contract.Two or more years of experience supporting US Government customers.Project Management Professional certification.Experience supporting complex government programs of a research and development nature.Experience with data storage, standards, and structuring of data.Experience utilizing containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Podman).Ability to automate data engineering processes within Linux environments including data wrangling and AI model development enablement.Highly proficient in software and network security, backup, and recovery specifications.Highly skilled in managing server access for multiple, simultaneous external vendors, Government, academia, and industry.Ability to coach/mentor junior technical resources.ECS is an equal opportunity employer.
