ECS is seeking a Software Engineer/Applications Programmer (Senior) to work in our Morgantown, WV office. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.Job Description:ECS is seeking a qualified Software Engineer/Applications Programmer (Senior) to support transformative science and technology solutions for the Department of Energy.Daily activities include:Analyze functional business applications and design specifications for functional areas such as finance, accounting, personnel, manpower, logistics, and contracts.Develop block diagrams and logic flow charts.Translate detailed design into computer software.Test, debug, and refine the computer software to produce the required product.Prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation.Enhance software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency.Provide technical direction to programmers to ensure program deadlines are met.Experience in information system design, including application programming on large-scale DBMS and the development of complex software to satisfy design objectives.Required Skills:Master's Degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field AND four years of practical experience in programming and coding; ORBachelor's Degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field AND six years of practical experience in programming and coding; ORTen years of practical experience in programming and coding.Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or DOE Q clearance throughout the life of the contract.Must be a US Citizen.Must currently live in Morgantown, WV or be willing to relocate.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Desired Skills:Active Top Secret or DOE Q Clearance with the ability to maintain clearance throughout the life of the contract.Two or more years of experience supporting US Government customers.Project Management Professional certification.Experience supporting complex government programs of a research and development nature.Experience with data storage, standards, and structuring of data.Experience utilizing containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Podman).Ability to automate data engineering processes within Linux environments including data wrangling and AI model development enablement.Highly proficient in software and network security, backup, and recovery specifications.Highly skilled in managing server access for multiple, simultaneous, external vendors, Government, academia, and industry.Ability to coach/mentor junior technical resources.
