Responsible for above and below-wing operation, commissary, cargo/mail operations and ACC including training, compliance, oversight, and AC cleaning. The Senior Director will lead a team of managers, whose primary responsibility is to safely meet our corporate objectives.The Sr. Director of Ground Operations must have full understanding of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices. This position will also work closely with the VP Ground Operations to ensure that the highest degree of performance is attained for the passenger/baggage experience. This position is strategic to ensure we have safe processes in place for AW/BW and commissary, that are measurable and understood. Additionally, this position requires fiscal oversight to ensure our financial objectives are achieved or variances are known, to constantly review financial performance. This position partners with the finance team to develop achievable goals in line with our company objectives.Overall, this position requires a well-rounded operational leader, who builds partnerships and collaborates with multiple departments to build a culture of team, while holding themselves and their team accountable for performance. One who celebrates success and recognizes the input of others in building an ops centric high performing team.Essential Roles and Responsibilities:Ensures a safe workplace for all departments and partners with the Safety team to proactively mitigate issues that might compromise the safety of the airline and its employees.Responsible for the overall policies for all MSP operations.Works to ensure passenger expectations are being met.Ensures ground operations manuals provide the level of detail to ensure repeatable processes.Drive change through the organization by utilizing a data driven approach to process improvement and operational excellence.Provide clear goals, defining core competencies and feedback for the ground operations leadership team.Sets the strategic goals for the ground operations team and effectively communicates those goals.Responsible for the training and oversight of the ground operations organization. Develop strategies with respect to oversight to ensure defined processes and training is effective.Manages the overall budget for MSP ground operations.Partner with the MAC, TSA, CBP and other government local and federal agencies to ensure compliance with a cohesive relationship.Constantly look for opportunities to automate the airline to improve efficiency for both our internal and external customers.Supervisory Responsibility:Above Wing – Customer Service Agents, Leads and ManagersBelow Wing – Ramp Agents, Leads and ManagersAirport Control Center (ACC)CargoQualifications:Five years+ experience in airline ground operations organization or equivalent industry focused on repeatable processes.Experience in working with a Part-time workforce.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Preferred Skills:Works well with teams, both within the ground operations team and the other operational and customer experience teams.Act as a change agent into the organization with the focus of repeatable processes.Possesses strong management skills that can drive an organization to meet its strategic goals.Embrace the “just-culture” safety philosophy.Sun Country Airlines respects and values every employee’s contribution to our business.
