Operations Manager – M&R
is part of the front-line management team and is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance and repair of various customers' shipping equipment.The Operations Manager is responsible for participating in the development and achievement of operational and financial goals and objectives and incorporating Ports America Values of Safety, Integrity, Pursue Excellence, Create Happiness, Connect and One Team in all aspects of communication, behavior, and business dealings.Responsibilities:
Complete all tasks and ensure that department staff and labor demonstrate customer service principles.Develop and execute operating plans designed to improve customer service, productivity, safety, and quality of operating activities.Contribute to the development and operate within approved fiscal budget limits and operating cost objectives.Ensure the scheduling and ordering of union labor providing the skill and staffing levels necessary to complete cost-effective, safe, and efficient equipment repairs and service.Work closely with customers and/or WBCT staff, determining customer needs, providing professional expertise, and ensuring customer satisfaction.Keep immediate supervisor aware of current operational status by regular communications and by issuing reports as directed.Ensure that area accident prevention/safety and workers' compensation programs and procedures are implemented, that labor is trained regularly, and that accident occurrences continue to decline in frequency and severity.Knowledge of union contracts and WBCT labor relations policies, ensuring positive labor relations, high levels of productivity, and that all policies and procedures are followed.Ensure that all company-owned assets are in good working order with a minimal amount of downtime for maintenance.Evaluate and select outside contractors and vendors who can provide quality products and services at the lowest possible prices and ensure availability when needed.Ensure that all work orders and reports are completed accurately, submitted on time, and to appropriate WBCT staff and other designated personnel.Available for after-hours emergencies that occur on nights, weekends, and holidays.Attend various terminal operations and safety meetings.Manage all maintenance and repair operations daily.Manage roadability operations to ensure labor efficiency and customer service.Knowledge of M&R billing systems to ensure all M&R billing is completed accurately and on time.Perform other related duties as requested.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline or 5+ years of equivalent experienceObtain a TWIC Card issued by the Department of Homeland SecurityValid US Driver’s LicensePreferred Qualifications:
Experience with Computerized Operating SystemsKnowledge of safety and accident prevention codes and regulationsKnowledge and understanding of cargo stowage and stabilityProficient in MS OfficeExcellent communication skills both verbal and written.Ability to manage time efficiently.Ability to execute in a fast-paced environment.Ability to plan and organize to ensure efficient execution of plan.Ability to drive and influence the performance of others.Ability to make sound decisions and respond quickly to operational issues.Physical Working Attributes:
Climb up and down a ladder on a vessel multiple times within a shiftWork on ships and terminal with engine equipment.Work in changing hot and cold climates based on weather conditions.Work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast-moving equipment.Lift, push, and or pull up to 30lbs.NOTE:
