As the
Manager, A&R Operations , you will supervise recording projects from the start of recording through delivery of final masters, help create and manage recording schedules and budgets, and be the liaison between A&R, Artists/Management, Attorneys and various departments within Concord to ensure successful and timely delivery of masters for Frontline labels.
Responsibilities:What you'll do:
Artist Agreements
Pay advances as per artist agreement and as authorized by Business Affairs
Liaise with Business Affairs to stay updated on the status of all artist agreements
Recording Budgets and Schedules
Consult with A&R representative, artist manager and producer to determine recording budget, schedule, location and personnel
Recommend studios, engineers and musicians as needed
Monitor actual recording costs against the approved budget
Initiate discussions with VP, Studio and A&R Operations, label heads and A&R rep, and others if recording costs may exceed the approved budget and/or if the recording project is delayed
Conduct weekly and bi‐weekly updates with each label and A&R to report on recording costs and status of budgets and schedules, projected delivery dates, new signings and options.
A&R Administration
Negotiate rates with studios, audio vendors, engineers and musicians to ensure budget compliance
Issue PO#s to vendors and process invoices in a timely manner
Schedule recording sessions with studios, engineers and musicians
Make travel arrangements for the artist and all other recording personnel
Comply with the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) regulations for scale payments and benefits contributions due to session musicians
Collect forms from session musicians and prepare AFM session reports in order to pay wages and benefits to musicians
Prepare and obtain signatures on Performer's Release Forms for vocalists and Producer Declaration form agreements for producers
Ensure label waivers are executed and received by Business Affairs prior to release.
Provide fully executed copies of Producer & Mixer agreements to BA and Royalties
Distribute music to entire staff
Collection of Deliverables
Assist in collecting deliverables as itemized in recording agreements, i.e., ProTools/session files, mixes, stems, lyrics, agreements and performer release forms
Coordinate with Content & Repertoire to collect credits for label copy
Archive masters in Concord’s A&R library
Masters To Production
Ensure that approved masters meet Production deadlines
Request master approval from A&R and Management and notify Production as soon as masters are approved
Coordinate the creation of radio edits and remixes
Qualifications:What you'll need:
A minimum of 3 (three) years of experience in A&R Admin, A&R Operations or a similar position
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Solid understanding of the recording process, recording technologies and the music industry as a whole
Thorough knowledge of regulations and scales deemed by The American Federation of Musicians
Very strong negotiating skills
Outstanding project management skills
Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
Self-starter with the capacity to manage a varied and often intense workload, managing evolving priorities as they arise.
Must be highly organized and have exceptional communication and follow-up skills
Exceptional problem-solving abilities
Diligent attention to detail
Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion
Must be able to work independently as well as working well within a team
Must demonstrate good judgment
Professional and diplomatic
Thorough knowledge and proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel and Word
Must be based in Los Angeles
Salary Range:$65,000 - 75,000
This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days minimum on-site.
