Job Description - Instructional Specialist (205 Days) (RTP20240927-034)DescriptionImplement a research-based coaching and feedback model of support to teachers and staff who are working with students who exhibit behavioral and emotional problems in the classroom.Develop effective behavior interventions in collaboration with campus team and model these strategies for campus staff to address the needs of special education students and assist in increasing capacity of campus personnel.Assist campus-based staff with collecting various types of data to document student progress using district approved tracking platform.Respond to campus requests for behavior assistance in a timely manner.Schedule and conduct consultations/observations of students and special education staff in the educational setting to ensure implementation of IEPs, and provide written, formative feedback for continued improvement.Create and follow up with campus action plans addressing campus needs.Maintain accurate case records and required accountability documentation, which will be monitored by the supervisor, after responding to campus requests for assistance.Develop and deliver professional learning opportunities in behavior management to campus personnel as needed or requested.Make positive connections with identified students and assist with provision of direct support by modeling appropriate social skills for these students.Support the implementation of BHS program expectations by conducting periodic fidelity checks and making recommendations on preventive and corrective actions.Assist in classroom set-up and delivery of materials for BHS programs.Attend Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee (ARD) meetings to assist the committee in understanding program expectations, continuum of services, and support recommendations.Participate in activities required by the Texas Behavior Support Initiative (SB 1196), which includes providing district-wide training in nonviolent crisis intervention and using physical restraint when needed.Attend professional development in special education, coaching, leadership, and any other behavior-related topics to remain up-to-date on current research regarding emotional and behavioral disorders, autism, learning differences, trauma, technology tools, social skills curriculum, etc.Engage in professional behaviors that reflect integrity, accountability, and moral standards.Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.QualificationsSame as above responsibilities, indicating qualifications.
