Dyslexia/Reading Interventionist Itinerant (205 Days) MULTIPLE POSITIONS (24000120)Description:Provides small group instruction for students identified to receive dyslexia services. Assists assigned campuses in the implementation and maintenance of a compliant dyslexia program which meets federal and state laws and mandates regarding dyslexia student identification, placement, and instruction.Actively engages students in the learning process; plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that meet the needs of individual learners with dyslexia.Assists classroom teachers by identifying and providing appropriate reading interventions for students who are not reading on grade level.Provides resources and training to school staff and parents regarding dyslexia instruction and identification in the classroom.Collaborates with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop Individual Education Plans (IEP) through the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee process for each student receiving Dyslexia programming services.Conducts, attends, and participates in ARD/IEP committee meetings and provides goals and objectives for students needing Dyslexia programming services.Works cooperatively with classroom teachers to accommodate curricula as needed for dyslexia students according to guidelines established in the Texas Dyslexia.Conducts ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.Compiles, maintains, and files all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.Serves as a liaison by maintaining a professional relationship and open communication with principals, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.Remains current on new laws, policies, and compliance issues in the areas of Dyslexia, §504, and Special Education at assigned campuses.Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Education or related field.Valid Texas Teacher Certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned required.3-5 years of direct experience in working with/teaching children with learning differences required.Dyslexia Practitioner or Dyslexia Therapist preferred.Knowledgeable about federal and state laws and mandates regarding dyslexia student identification, placement, and instruction.Knowledgeable about district procedures regarding evaluation and identification of dyslexia.Ability to work independently to serve multiple campuses as assigned.Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and administrators.Ability to work with various kinds of technology.Experience working with/teaching children with learning differences.Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.
