The Director, Pharmacy Services

is responsible for the strategic planning, design, operations, and improvement of the medication management system to facilitate safe and efficient care that results in positive patient outcomes.

Job Responsibilities:

Assures efficient and effective day-to-day operations of the Department of Pharmacy and compliance with applicable Federal and State laws and regulations, accreditation and licensing requirements.

Prepares and delivers reports containing qualitative and/or quantitative data to system pharmacy leadership and entity operational leadership.

Plans and coordinates personnel and patient care activities to assure safety, quality, customer/patient satisfaction, efficiency, and consistency.

Coordinates the maintenance of the controlled substance inventory and the destruction of controlled substances.

Oversees and supports department talent acquisition, retention, and engagement activities.

Assesses manager and staff development needs, identifies goals, and provides resources.

Provides oversight of scheduling and staffing patterns to meet productivity standards.

Works to promote compliance with established policies within the department and system.

Informs operational and capital budgets and is accountable for the annual personnel, supply, and expense budgets of the pharmacies.

Actively engages staff to improve financial outcomes and creates business plans.

Ensures that department is supported with competent management, professional, and technical personnel.

Collaborates with other departments or disciplines to improve medication use and safety.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree in pharmacy required.

Masters degree in pharmacy, health services, or business administration or related field preferred.

Five years of leadership-level experience in a hospital or health-system with a documented record of success.

Current licensure (or eligibility as a pharmacist in the state of Georgia).

Must have demonstrated expertise in federal and state pharmacy statutory and regulatory provisions.

BLS certifications required.
