Clarendale of West End is recruiting for a hospitality-focused Director of Plant Operations to join our team! This role is responsible for overseeing the care and maintenance of all aspects of the community’s physical plant, including maintaining an effective preventative maintenance program, hiring, training, and supervising all plant and housekeeping employees, coordinating life safety and security programs, procuring supplies, materials, and equipment, and assisting with budget preparation while operating within budgetary guidelines.

Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a Director of Plant Operations:

Supervise the Plant Operations Department (less than two full-time/equivalent staff members), including interviewing, hiring (with approval from the Executive Director), training, evaluating, and counseling within established policies and procedures.

Maintain equipment, building, utilities, and grounds with an adequate preventative maintenance program. Arrange for maintenance contracts as necessary.

Maintain the emergency power generating equipment along with all fire and life safety equipment and fire drill and safety inspection reports.

Provide residents and staff with a timely and effective response to service requests.

Ensure all equipment and systems function properly and safely. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations/ordinances.

Advise and consult with the Executive Director in short and long-range planning to ensure that the community physical plant and grounds are maintained in a good state of repair and that the community projects a good visual image to the community at large.

Participate in the planning of the annual departmental budget, responsible for maintaining all expenditures for the department to remain within budget allowances, and reviewing monthly operating statements for accuracy while explaining variances to budget.

Maintain proper levels of service repair parts for electrical, plumbing, laundry, lighting, refrigeration, HVAC, hardware, locks, batteries, tools, expendable supplies, emergency telephone, and security equipment based on past and expected usage. Maintain and adjust computerized controls for HVAC and other equipment as necessary.

Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have:

High School diploma

Associates Degree or equivalent in relevant education, training, and experience

Maintenance supervisor experience preferred

Previous Senior Living experience highly preferred
