Summary:

The

Infant & Toddler Center Director

demonstrates leadership for the Infant & Toddler Center. The Director has responsibility for the general management of the facility and will administer the facility's program objectives and activities. The Director also manages the Keystone Stars program and serves as a liaison between the Child Care Center and the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare (DPW).

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Provide leadership, planning, implementation and direction for the program

Coordinate, integrate and implement the Keystone Stars Program at the Center

Provide educational experiences and activities to promote intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth and development for the children enrolled in the center

Interpret and ensure the implementation of local, state and federal laws and regulations, and be responsible for compliance with Department of Human Services child day care regulations and Intermediate Unit policies and standards

Maintain confidentiality of all children and families in the program

Designate a staff member to be responsible for compliance with Department of Human Services standards in the Director's absence

Assist with recruitment, interviewing and hiring of staff that are knowledgeable, experienced, and caring personnel, and are motivated to execute their own duties and to promote all programs

Provide direct supervision, evaluation, and coaching of support staff to maximize the utilization of personnel based on staff capabilities and IU goals and objectives

Regularly monitor staff performance, conduct monthly staff meetings and provide feedback that leads to positive change in performance

Assist with formal ratings/evaluations of staff

Identify needs of staff and provide for staff development utilizing the Professional Development Record (PDR)

Maintain an open, positive, professional attitude towards children, parents, staff, visitors, volunteers and others during Center operation

Establish a safe and orderly environment so that the primary focus of staff can be teaching and learning

Maintain physical facilities that are clean, pleasant places where staff and students can work together

Support staff morale by involving them in decision-making/problem-solving

Coordinate and plan daily activities with Assistant Specialists and Aids

Allow for the development of innovative and creative programs

Assist with the development of grant proposals to support the Center

Maintain effective liaison with external agencies, including: Early Learning Resource Center (ELRC), Chester County Department of Health, the Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children (DVAEYC), the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Childhood Education Coalition of Chester County (CECCC)

Collaborate internally to utilize resources available through other departments and districts to deliver more efficient and cost-effective services to the Chester County community

Assist with the marketing of the Infant & Toddler Center through the development and dissemination of reports, presentations and public relations materials for local, state, and national organizations such as the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and the Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children (DVAEYC)

Maintain Early Head Start Program Performance and Keystone STARS standards

Assist in supporting CCIU Young Parents Program

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Education

required , Degree in Early Childhood Education

strongly preferred

Willingness to obtain Pennsylvania Director Credential within 18 months of attaining position

required

3-5 years experience in early care and education

required

Knowledge of state/federal laws and guidelines regarding child care regulations

Knowledge of budget process, curriculum, instructional materials and staff development

Technical experience in planning and implementing early care and education programs

Professional or Other Required Clearances:

Current police, child abuse, and FBI fingerprint clearances within 1 year

required

Anticipated Salary Range:

Project, Level 14: $45,819.52/yr. - $57,264.58/yr.

* Placement on band is based on years of direct experience in a comparable role.

185 day position, 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week
